Origin and History The Indian ringneck parakeet is a sub-species of the rose-ringed parakeet & the many sub-species are scattered throughout Africa and Asia. The Indian ringneck is an Asiatic parrot and originally from Ceylon though it's now found in many parts of Asia, notably India and Pakistan. They can also be found in western and southern areas of Sudan and are quite popular in the Middle East where they are bred and found in the wild. . Life Span of the Ringneck in captivity can live to be 20 to 30 years old, although there are some reports of ringnecks living up to 50 years. Taking conscious steps to keep them healthy and happy is the key to a long life span. . Their diet comprises different types of fruits, vegetables, berries, seeds and nuts. . If your ringneck is sexually mature, you can take a look at him and figure out if he's really a she.
