Going through a little “rebrand” of this profile, in advance of some big news later this week!!! I’ve decided to “unveil” myself and put my name to this page - but there will be no change in content or image curation! ▫️ I promise that you will still get all-things Robert Adam, all the time. Kind of like this photo of Kedleston Hall, which I visited for the first time way back in 2008! I love the contrast between the white plasterwork, the blue silk walls and the gold mirror. ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ Photo by @RobertAdamArchitecture (2013). ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ Tag your photos with #RobertAdamArchitecture and/or #RobertAdam.

The Maisons La Roche-Jeanneret in Paris, France - entrance hall Considered the first architectural expression of Purism, Le Corbusier worked with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret on this Parisian residence for the Swiss banker Raoul La Roche. The building comprises two white blocks joined to create an L-shaped plan. The first house was designed for Le Corbusier’s brother (Albert Jeanneret) and the second for Raoul La Roche. Construction began in November of 1923. Today the Jeanneret Villa houses the Le Corbusier Foundation offices as well as a library. Only the La Roche House is open to visitors. The La Roche and Jeanneret Houses were put on the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2016. ______ Photo © @oliviermartingambier FLC/ADAGP #lecorbusier #architecture #parisarchitecture #maisonlaroche #villalaroche #villalarochejeanneret #maisonlarochejeanneret #fondationlecorbusier #archdaily #archilovers #timelessarchitecture #lecorbusierarchitecture #architect #archilover #architektur #architecture_lovers #architecturephotography #architecturalhistory #architectura #brutalistarchitecture #modernistarchitecture #unesco #worldheritage #corbusierbuilding #lescouleurslecorbusier #brutalism #brutalistarchitecture #unescoworldheritage #unescoworldheritagesite

Driving through the countryside near Natchez, Mississippi, trees line the winding roadways, ravines cut through the loess soil and history surrounds you. You can easily pretend that you are far, far away from the hustle and bustle of our modern world. As you wander along, you can’t help but appreciate the beauty on every side of you. And just when you think it can’t get any better, you round a curve in the narrow dirt road…and your breath catches in your chest. You are suddenly looking at this. The day that couldn’t get better, just did... St. Mary’s Chapel was built by James Hardie on the grounds of Laurel Hill Plantation for W. Newton Mercer. It was consecrated on April 28, 1839 by Right Reverend James Harvey Otey and was received into the Diocese later that same year. The Gothic church is of brick construction, finished in stucco. Its grand spire is topped with an iron cross, and the windows are paned in the highest quality glass. The interior is beautifully finished and decorated, but perhaps the most striking feature is its stunning oriel stained glass window, which spans approximately 4 feet. The chapel’s first rector was Rev. Daniel H. Deacon in 1842. The bricks used for construction of the chapel were made onsite by slave labor under the direction of the plantation’s overseer, which perhaps makes it fitting that Rev. Deacon’s primary responsibility was visiting the plantation slaves and christening their children. Over the course of 2 years, 144 were confirmed in the church. There has not been a parochial organization at the church since 1850, around the time that Mr. Mercer began traveling abroad with his wife and children, who all suffered from tuberculosis. They are now buried beneath the chapel. St. Mary’s is privately owned and, while it has been rarely used in recent times, it was never deconsecrated. It is a peaceful place, surrounded by bird song and the stories of all those who were a part of it.

Phelan Building “Architecture is really about well-being. I think that people want to feel good in a space.. on the one hand it’s about shelter, but it’s also about pleasure” - Zaha Hadid This 11-story office building has a unique triangular shape that’s similar to the Flatiron Building in Manhattan, New York City . The building is a San Francisco designated landmark and it’s located at the tip of Market Street, O’Farrell Street, and Grant Street The original Phelan building was constructed by James Phelan in 1881 and only had 6 stories. Due to the earthquake in 1906, the second Phelan was designed by William Curlett and constructed in 1908. The building’s exterior has metal windows and a glazed terra-cotta skin. For many years, the building hosted dozens of jewelers and a jewelry school. But now the major tenants are Credit Karma & Flexport. Preset by: @haleymohler_

The Williams Robinson House is one of Bath’s secret treasures that’s tucked away on a little side street and pending sale (accompanied by a preservation easement too). It was designed by Chicago-based architect Robert Closson Spencer, Jr., who was buddies with Frank Lloyd Wright and shared an interest in the English Arts and Crafts movement. This early Spencer commission was built in 1897 and features a shingled exterior and English-inspired steep roof and diamond pane windows. It showcases some of the historic elements that were favored by the architect and were often used in combination with his later Prairie style designs. I can’t wait to see this fascinating home receive the attention and care it deserves
