As some of you saw in my stories, my parents have now moved to England with me when I first arrived in the UK in 2015 I never really thought I'd enjoy this country as much as I do. I thought I'd feel homesick, but the only thing I truly missed from back home was my family and some specific types of food as it turns out, you can feel home anywhere in the world and quite frankly, I feel home here waaaayyy more than I do in the country I was born in My parents felt the same way, but money has always been tight and when you've spent 50 years of your life in the same small city, deciding to take a leap of fate and change your whole life is something I'm extremely proud that they were brave enough to do! ♥️ What's the bravest thing you've done? I’m back.☺️ . . It’s been a long month for me. Leaving Instagram was a good decision - I left it bitter and I’m returning with peace in me. It may not sound like a long time, but a month for someone who posts a drawing a day most of the time... it’s a lot. I learned a few things, for once, I was using Instagram in a completely different way. I wasn’t uploading, therefore I wasn’t checking my likes and notifications. Instead I focused on what other people were posting. The pressure of “hope I get enough engagement and likes” was suddenly gone and I used Instagram as someone whose only care in the world of IG was to support others. And it was freeing and relaxing all together. There were days when I wouldn’t even remember to click on the IG icon. It took a while for me to start drawing again... in fact it took almost 2 weeks for me to feel recharged and to want to create something and since I wasn’t on Instagram anymore, the thought of “what should I draw so my followers will be happy” was gone from my mind and I drew for the sake of it, for me... and it was a beautiful feeling I’ve forgotten. . . Some other things I took from this is that I want to be more transparent with you guys. I’ll do my best to fill my captions with a bit more about my life or the drawing or what is going on around me. I used to think that nobody cares and that I shouldn’t share anything on Instagram because “people are here for art, just post your photo and add an emoji, don’t bother them with details”. But that’s one of the reasons I felt so lonely and I wanted to leave and needed a break. I just need to make sure this page is not just “pretty pictures”, but actually like a room with drawings on the wall but also an artist you guys could talk to and he can talk back to you. Communication and connection. . . I’m restarting my IG and I’ll be sharing different drawings I did in the last month. I don’t know how well they’ll be received from you guys, because I mostly drew what I wanted without thinking of what would “get the most likes”, but at the end of the day, I still hope you enjoy them and thank you for sticking around and for your continued support!
