“Heading to watch Matt graduate from college. Thank you, Lisa and TACA, for everything you’ve done for Matt, me, and my family. I am eternally grateful to you and all of the awesome moms and dads TACA was born from. I have said it many times and I will continue to say it over and over again… Finding TACA changed the course of my boy’s life!” – Tracey, TACA Mom⠀

‼️Speech and communication are not the same thing.⠀
.⠀
If a child with autism does not have speech, he or she needs a way to communicate his/her needs and wants. Teaching effective, alternative ways to communicate is beneficial while working on speech and can give voices to those that do not have them yet. ⠀
• Sign language⠀
• PECS⠀
• Apps like Proloquo2go⠀
• Facilitated Communication⠀
• Rapid Prompting Method (RPM)⠀

‼️There are many underlying medical issues that can cause a lack of speech, such as:⠀
• Mitochondrial dysfunction⠀
• Seizures⠀
• Cerebral Folate Deficiency (CFD)⠀
• Decreased blood flow to speech areas in the brain⠀
• B12 deficiency in the brain⠀
• and more!⠀

Over the years, I’ve found myself growing a deep appreciation for the plants God has created for us. I had this feeling that the foods we used to fuel our bodies mattered, much more than I had ever acknowledged before. After Belle regressed, then realizing that she was dealing with mercury toxicity, I went searching for solutions to heal her. I came across @medicalmedium and his detoxing protocols. I dove into all of his books. His information was inspiring. It rang true to me on so many levels. I had found a way that I could heal Belle. Her detoxing and healing would happen through the thing I had the most faith in, Heavenly Father and his gift of fruits and vegetables.
I started Belle on @medicalmedium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie the first of December 2018. Within 2 weeks of drinking it daily, her tic that happened while she ate had stopped! She stopped flapping her arms, she stopped toe walking!! It was about 3 weeks in when she started making eye contact with me again I can’t begin to explain the pure joy and hope I felt when she looked into my eyes. She would grab my cheeks with her little hands and pull my face in really close, like she was studying every little detail that she had been missing.
2 months went on of drinking the smoothie and implementing his other dietary protocols. We were seeing a lot of deep detoxing symptoms, but also impressive improvements. It was in the middle of March when she was doing well, that we went on a trip and I decided to take a break from the smoothie. I wanted do an experiment on her. Within a week of stopping the smoothie, she started spinning and stemming uncontrollably again. Her melt downs were the worst I had ever seen. Bed time was 2 hours+ of straight screaming and crying even though I would be laying right next to her holding her the whole time. We started the smoothie back up immediately. It was only a few days, when all of a sudden, bed time was calm again. The spinning slowly decreased over the next few weeks, and then it totally stopped around the middle of April. She hasn’t spun uncontrollably for 1 whole month now!! This is our longest stretch without excessive stemming so far! Cont. in comments
One of my momma dreams for Rex was to take him to Build-a-Bear. I wanted to watch him get excited about choosing his deflated bear, stepping on that peddle to plump him up with fluff, kissing that little heart and putting it in his chest and picking out clothes for his new stuffed best friend.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before our healing journey, Rex’s sensory processing disorder wouldn’t allow him to even enter the store. He also couldn’t/wouldn’t go into the Disney or LEGO store. There is a way to much stimulation with color, sound and/or screens.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After some healing, about a year ago I was able to walk Rex through a Build-a-Bear to show him the magic going on in there. He seemed intrigued but not enough to choose a bear and go through with it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A month ago, at the same mall, I asked Rex for the final time if he wanted to build a bear. He firmly replied, “No.” I accepted his answer and chopped it up to Rex outgrowing this sort of thing. He is all about the big boy LEGO store now.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I selfishly got angry at autism stealing time and these experiences away from us.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then yesterday happened. I wasn’t going to ask. I’d already given up. But Dad did as we walked past, “Rex, do you want to Build-a-Bear?” Rex’s reply was, “Yes” and he walked in.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I didn’t take many pictures. I was enjoying every second of an experience I’ve always dreamt of having with my son.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He picked everything out himself. The blue bear, undies, shoes and donut. We made the bears birth certificate and named him Speedy. Rex carried his bear box proudly out of the mall.

Belle’s situation in developing autistic behaviors is unique. Every child’s situation is unique. I’m not assuming that every single child showing these symptoms, was poisoned by mercury in the exact same way Belle was.
Mercury is not only found in dental amalgam fillings. There are multiple other sources of exposure, especially to babies and developing children. Mercury is not the only cause of autism either. There are other heavy metals, specifically aluminum, that have also been proven to cause autism. Our children are being exposed to mercury and aluminum in so many different ways. This is why autism is on the rise. A child’s chances of developing autism was 1 in 10,000 in the 1980’s. As of this year, the chances are 1 in 36. We have an autism epidemic on our hands. If we don’t start changing what we are doing and how we are exposing children to heavy metals, the numbers will only keep rising.
Once you start learning there is a cause for autism, then you realize, if there is a cause, there must be a cure. All of a sudden I was finding story after story of families that were detoxing their children from heavy metals, and they were recovering from autism! I found holistic, biomedical, alternative and conventional doctors all over the world who were aware of the causes of autism, and they were healing children from autism in their practices! Through detoxing and encouraging the body to heal, the children were dropping their autism diagnosis’s altogether!
My whole world filled with hope! This wasn’t something Belle would have to live with forever. The mercury was causing her brain to develop and trigger this way. All I needed to do was remove the mercury, nourish her body in a way that it could heal, and watch her come back to us. This is where we decided to put our energy, resources, and faith; into healing Belle.
Some children with autism are unable to speak, but that doesn’t mean they have nothing to say!

Children with autism almost always have medical conditions that cause or aggravate the symptoms of autism. Treating those conditions improves the child’s health. When a child is in less pain and feels good, their ability to learn improves, they have less behavior issues, communicate better, and learn coping skills among many other improvements.

Even when parents have a Special Needs Trust and a Will in place, they desperately want to outlive their child with #autism by at least one day. Why? Because they are worried about the quality of care their loved one will receive after they die. It’s an awful fear to live with. .
‼️ This is why TACA strives to help families improve their child’s health and develop skills so that they can become as independent as possible. Independence improves quality of life - not only for the person with autism, but for the entire family as well.

SPOTLIGHT.
.
.
As we focus on autism awareness day, I need to place the spotlight on @matthew._.bonanno for being such an incredible brother to Jordan.
.
.
I still remember at a young age he use to ask why Jordan wouldn’t play with him. It broke my heart.
.
.
He was so happy to have a brother but didn’t understand why he was so different.
.
.
So much has changed since then. Matthew embraced Jordan, accepted and helped as much as he could.
.
.
Today they have a typical brother to brother relationship. The have a love hate relationship .
.
.
Matthew always wants to be recognized in my posts so please join me in telling him how proud we all are for embracing autism and everything that it is. @matthew._.bonanno .
