Vosne Romanee Les Chaumes 2012 horizontal. I’ve been waiting to do these wines at one sitting because many of the Domaines here are entering a renaissance period. Comte Liger Belair. The most lovely nose, so floral, full of violets, sweet red fruits. Very pretty and perfumed in the mouth. Lovely. Meo Camuzet. Bright aromatics, smoky dark red fruits but still airy and elegant. A bit more dry extract. Jean Grivot. Very funky nose when poured but blew off to eucalyptus, black fruits. Sweet fruit, elegant and rounded. Lovely. Georges Noellat. Bright and floral, red fruits, hibiscus, sappy and so elegant, energetic wine. Another favorite tonight. Arnoux Lachaux. Dark red fruits, minty, dense, airy but dry with fine tannins. Not unlike like Meo Camuzet.

Armand Rousseau Clos st Jacques 07. Ripe reds fruits, strawberry jam, raspberries animale, sous bois. Light body, sappy and peppered with spices but surprisingly light for a CSJ but I like it. Rousseau Ruchottes Chambertin 07. Darker shade than CSJ. Blueberries, plums, dark fruits, mint. Dense and firmly textured, airy and delineated. Tight grippy tannins.

Not much separating these two. CLB had a more attractive nose- cleaner, more lifted aromatics- but the Cathiard had slightly better intensity on the palate. 12 is a knockout vintage for Cathiard from top to bottom. 2006 Marquis d'Angerville Volnay Taillepieds - Magnum On the nose: red and black cherry, with violet and spice. On the palate a bit medicinal, with cherry flavor, some white pepper, and dusty intensity. Good minerality and the tannins were still pretty firm. 2005 Marquis d'Angerville Volnay Champans - On the nose raspberry, cherry and spice with some hints of blossom. On the palate the wine shows good fruit purity of cherry, flower, and Earth. This wine is deep, and intensely flavored. Similar to the 2006 Taillepieds, it had very good minerality, but the 2005 Champans had rounder and silkier tannins; a softer wine. Mikluski Meursault Perrieres 10. Very chalky nose, grassy, white flowers, bergamot & almond oil, not much fruit on the nose. Intense on the palate, very minerally, stony, powerful and high acid backbone. Long finish. A rather lean and austere style of Meursault.
