Ok, my wife and I finally picked the title for the latest mural. Mural number 14. Thank you to everyone that gave their suggestion. It was not easy to pick because of all the powerful and well throughout titles. We picked, “Holding onto Hope”. She has a name now! I personally feel she is surrounded by darkness, destruction, loss and fear. With every thing she has she is holding on to hope. Anyone that knows me, they know how much I adore my job. Before the fire, I loved making coffee, my coworkers and my manager. We opened in our little town that had lots of people who were skeptic of a business that is a corporation. Thankfully, because of my amazing manager and her beautiful vision for this store, we quickly became part of the community. On November 8th, 2018 when our whole town caught on fire, somehow our store was lucky enough to still be standing. I lost my home due to this fire so it was relieving to still have my second home survive. We reopened amidst ALL the destruction surrounding our store, having to get a water tank because the town had contaminated water and it being a ghost town. Slowly customers started trickling in and let me tell you... this experience has made me fall even more in love with what I do. Being able to console customers who are distraught due to losing everything in the fire... connecting over our losses and meeting so many amazing souls through my job... it’s been eye opening that we don’t just make coffee. We really are a third place for so many people. ANYWAYS, this is one of the only things I’ve been able to find on my property. This was a mug my best friend sent me from her Starbucks location in Oregon. This is a reminder: we are here. We are still living in the rubble. We are still rising. We are Paradise. This mural entitled: “Beauty Amongst the Ashes” was just torn down a few days ago. Demolition crews are already starting to go throughout Paradise and cleanup areas. I knew this mural was going to get torn down. Part of me felt that it added to the story and the power of the artwork. But to be honest, when it was torn down it definitely hit me pretty hard. I had no idea that this Mural would bring hope and joy to so many and move people emotionally. I wanted to share my latest mural in Paradise California entitled! “Beauty Arises.” Thank you to my lovely wife Missy Grammer for coming up with the name for this mural. I came up to Sacramento to paint live tonight for Blue Heart International and wanted to run up to Paradise to paint a quick mural. These murals have brought hope and joy to so many devastated by the fire that I just want to keep going! EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT: I Just wanted to let everybody know that behind the scenes we are working hard with dear friends on an art show in the Chico California area showcasing the Paradise Camp Fire Mural Project. We will be using the photographs by Terrence Duffy as well as some of my newly created works of art. I will also be creating an art installation just for the show. PROCEEDS WILL BE GOING TO PARADISE FIRE VICTIMS. Also Missy and I are also writing a coffee table book about the Murals. She is working hard at writing all the content. We will be creating a calendar of the murals as well as making prints. Paradise Camp Fire Mural Project Mural Entitled: Reflecting I have spent my life as an artist working and trying to create art that connects and moves people emotionally. This happened suddenly in Paradise California and it was completely unexpected.
