We’re off to Jamaica for the rest of the week and I can’t even explain how good it felt to put up the away message on my email. I have to be honest, it took a lot of willpower for me to leave my laptop at home for this trip. I literally had an argument with myself about it in my head. There are so many things within my own business that I would love to work on right now, but I need rest, guys. Serious, uninterrupted rest. And I’ll never be able to do that with my laptop constantly tempting me. I recently listened to @madebycanopy’s podcast with @ideaswithintention and she said something that really resonated with me — “Rest is the most productive thing that you can do.” What a powerful mindset shift and that’s gonna be my mantra for the week. Kindness. This is what I’m thankful for. Specifically today I’m thankful for Lindsey’s kindness. Despite her constant pain and debilitating fatigue, Lindsey is kind to me and those around her. I’m beginning to think this is one of my favorite parts of life with Lindsey. In essence, this is at the heart of Bottle of Tears, Lindsey’s work is making pathways for others to be kind to their friends who are hurting. This makes so much sense. When you’re going through the stuff life throws at you - it’s kindness that heals; not reason or solutions...but kindness. As Proverbs 16:24 puts it “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” • Kindness is far more powerful than our culture gives it credit for. Probably because it seems counter intuitive. You’d think kindness is the opposite of strength, when it’s actually the evidence of it. Kindness is not weakness. The ability to be kind comes from a position of security and safety. Lindsey’s brand of kindness comes from a deeper power source than she could ever generate on her own. Lindsey’s kindness is actually a reflection of the kindness of God. Galatians 5:22-23 lists the evidence or fruits of God’s spirit as, “Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Kindness, then in turn, is what fosters real change in the world. Romans 2:4 reminds us that it is God’s kindness that leads us to change or repent. The old timers have it right when they say, “you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.” Thanks for modeling kindness for us all Lindsey. We love you. -Chris #wheelerwednesdays

Marcel Duchamp. A champ in my eyes. Frothed so hard finally seeing that fountain (1917) from the readymade series. I had spent hours on hours writing essays on that thing, being increasingly inspired to create conceptual art myself, and here it was before me... the most beautiful urinal known to man. Not because of its aesthetic, but rather it’s genius and satire. Love me that fountain. Also love me Marcel. Witty, brilliant, ideas focused, absolute genius. Anti-art, DADAism. *insert major heart eyes* I actually got teary looking at his piece 1915. Feeling like my rusty clockwork heart is starting to spin and slowly generate new creative ideas. A dead’s man’s legacy lives on to inspire the living.
