News that the #homecare industry is actively looking to recruit retirees   is so good for so many reasons — and it's about time. . Just love that retirees can find renewed purpose and income, and know that they're not applying for jobs with companies that are actively discriminating against them (increasing reports of discrimination against workers over age 50 is a serious problem). But these opportunities will also allow them to meet new colleagues and maybe some new friends, helping to combat the problem of social isolation and consequences such as depression and suicide. . As for home care residents,  they'll be getting caregivers who are more likely to have had a lot of experience with caregiving already, for family, friends, as volunteers or even as retired healthcare workers. Plus, some of them might like having caregivers who are in their peer group for various reasons, including avoiding any potential #ageist remarks or behaviours. .
