Whenever I’m out taking pictures, light is one of the most exciting elements I find that can add so much life to an otherwise ordinary shot. You can be looking at a scene and feel like nothing is there, when all of a sudden a bright burst of light will appear and completely change the perspective. While the Alabama Hills are anything but ordinary, my sunrise shoot was such a treat because of the unique landscapes and the way light would so perfectly illuminate certain aspects of the scenery, while others would still be in the shadows. Over the past couple weeks, I’ve posted several pictures of Mobius Arch, simply due to my fascination with this strange, picturesque formation, and the way the sun would create an entirely new look for it depending on the vantage point. In this particular picture, I first saw the sun rising over the horizon in the distance, followed by the lighting of the grass in the valley, and then finally creating this beautiful golden glow on the inside of the arch. Watching this transformation almost makes me want to start waking up earlier in the mornings so I can watch this sort of thing more often! • Fun Fact: California is the most visited state in America. Finally made it up to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. Up in the White Mountains near 11,000 feet. This place has been high on my list to visit for a while and finally made the trip. I really wanted Milky Way but got clouded and fogged out. Drove home early and happened to be totally clear skies at Red Rock State Park. You could see the Milky Way pretty clearly but the camera picks up quite a bit of light pollution there. It was a long day in Alabama Hills on Saturday. I ended up being there for 18 hours. On one of my many stops to Boot Arch I met a couple like minded people @ktblynn and @luketyreephotography that I ended up running into many times throughout the day and then met up after sunset for light trails. We all took turns driving our cars down the curvy bumpy road. This shot is of my turn driving and thanks again Katie and Luke for hitting my remote.
