#TBT • • Throwing it back to just over five weeks ago when I had just crossed the line @greatwelshmarathon and didn’t know how to hold a 2nd place medal .. • • I can’t believe it was only a few weeks ago I made my marathon debut! And what a feeling it was to be awarded 2nd female place. I haven’t experienced running towards the finish line and nobody being there apart from cameras #paparazzi it was the most humbling experience I’ve had... I’d barely taken a breath and they handed me the medal and told me to face all of them separately and smile! And boy did I smile • • I trained hard for this and I have to credit @lliswerryrunners for all the long hard training runs on a Sunday during some harsh winter months too. I wasn’t expecting a time of 3.12... so that was a huge bonus! And better still a qualifying time for GFA for London 2020 and depending on the times potentially a Championship start place which is my ultimate goal.. my dream is to run the @londonmarathon so this gives me a chance... • • The Marathon was tough, weather conditions were good but the head wind was hard to push through at times and the fact that it is two laps of the same course also tested my mental strength... • • Looking forward to my training block leading up to my next marathon @eryrisnowdonia which will be a whole different experience ⛰ in October. • • #frontrunnerevents #greatwelshmarathon #lliswerryrunners #2ndfemale #firstmarathon #marathondebut #onlythebeginning #nextone #snowdoniamarathon

I'm a bit of a weirdo when it comes to race numbers, i have certain numbers i like and dont like So when i got handed this 175 yesterday i thought this is gona be a good 1.17 is my birthday so of course its my fav numberbut for any of u know me will know i hate 13 so its a good job i didnt think about adding them together till i put up this pic . The run was a very hilly 5k route so unfortunately no PB but i did manage to bag myself a prize for 2nd female so couldnt complain about that! Delighted to come away with 2nd Female (and 6th overall!) at @trailoutlaws St Cuthbert’s Way 100km yesterday. 103km and 7800ft of climbing on a brutally hot day with a high DNF rate. Said from the start that I was chasing a podium position but didn’t realise just how much chasing would be involved. Spent the first 18 miles in 4th position with a few women hot on my heels. Spent miles 18-28 yo-yoing between 3rd and 4th position. From mile 28-50 I felt pretty comfortable in 3rd position. Spent miles 50-54 chasing down 2nd position but just when I thought I had secured 2nd position a woman snuck up and sprinted past me, bumping me back down to 3rd. With only 10 miles to go I knew it was going to be a painful finish. 5 miles of chasing later and I caught up with her. We spent a mile together before I decided I was going to put my foot down and push my limits to try and secure 2nd position. It took until 1 mile from the finish before I knew I had built enough of a gap to secure 2nd spot on the podium. 2nd female in the 5km race at the @torontomarathon today! With a PB of 19.48 A few things that happened at the race: ➡ Several of us missed the 5km turn around point due to poor signage so ended up running an extra 100m, but great weather and a flat course. ➡ I had a positive split (went out too quickly) and could feel myself getting slower as the race progressed.
