I like this method of mounting the rails a lot better. I cut the profiles out of MIC-6 plate yesterday and used the mill to drill/counterbore this evening. While I'm getting good at the dials, I either need to install the DRO or start the CNC conversion soon. I'm just too tired at the end of the work day to trust my counting. Next I need to cut the 15mm MGN rail, but I don't really feel like breaking out the chop saw and shoot sparks everywhere tonight. I still have to drill/tap 4 new holes in each rail mount plate and turn some spacers, but I made a little progress on the idler pulley mount for my #hypercubeevolution rail conversion tonight. Found the limits of blue tape and super glue on my machine while cutting the second motor mount for my #hypercube rail upgrade... I apparently also need to pay better attention to the camera when I set it up (focus you *!@+) :P It's somewhere between 0.125" doc 0.01" stepover @40ipm (which works) and 0.4" doc 0.02" stepover @72ipm (this run). I definitely need to convert the mill. Idler bearing mounts for the #hypercubeevolution rail upgrade are done and the holes are drilled and tapped so I can mount them. 15 mm bearings were a bit gritty so I cleaned them up and reassembled them. If you haven't had LASIK, I highly recommend it. ;) I also cut down the X axis rail and got it mounted this evening. I'm to the point I have to finish more of the design... which requires sitting at the computer... which is what I did all day at work... Test fitting rails for the #hypercube upgrade. I don't really like this arrangement so I think I'll make an plate to sit here and move the rail down flush with the bearing housing. I'm using the 15mm extrusion and a delrin roller to preload the bearings on the x axis (15mm) rail. The 12 mm rails are nice and tight, but the larger rail has a little play. I ran the bracket in the vibratory tumbler last night and drilled the motor holes this morning. Just need to drill 2 more holes for mounting to the 3030 extrusion... Then make the other side. This will eventually be a part for converting my #hypercube to MGN linear guide rails. Now if I could just get over this fever. I drilled 4 holes and now I'm back on the couch.
