☀️Did you know, June 21 is my all time favorite day of the year This day has a huge amount of significance to me, because 1. I became a Bat Mitzvah on this day in 2008. 2. I got my first new/favorite car on this day in 2015. 3. It’s the date of my future wedding. -hey, I’m a planner!‍♀️ 4. Life altering experiences always seem to happen to me, on this day! Many ancient cultures such as the Mayans, Essenes, Druids and Egyptians, built temples or structures that captured the divine moment of alignment, and there they would participate in sacred ceremonies for today’s solstice!☺️ An example of this is the head of the Sphinx at the Great Pyramids of Egypt, is crowned by the sun of the summer solstice. How Can You Celebrate and Soak up the energies of the Summer Solstice? 1.Step Outdoors☀️ Step outside and dig your feet into the earth. Soak up the rays of the sun's light. -But please be careful, because the air quality is a bit low right now!‍♀️ 2.Breathe in the Sun☀️ Stand in the sunlight with feet apart, and palms / arms up in the air in a posture to receive. Absorb all the healing rays of the sun's light and warmth all over your body, let it penetrate every cell. 3.Honor the Four Directions☀️ Try standing in all four directions (North, East, South, West), breathing in the air and feeling its energies. Move your body and stretch, to activate your life force energy. Do anything you like that makes you feel sacred, alive, or connected. * * * * * * #nmfood #supportsmallbusiness #foodie #albuquerque #nmtrue #southwestern #newmexicoblogger #newmexicanfood #newmexicotrue #greenchile #redchile #albuquerqueblogger #abqblogger #newmexico #westernfashion #westernstyle #santafeblogger #fashionblogger #foodblogger #lifestyleblogger #lifestyle #newmexicofoodblogger #santafe #abqigers #albuquerque #easyrecipes #westernwear #turquoise

A few days ago, every single piece of content on my blog, Sparrows + Lily, was completely deleted. One of the reps from my hosting site accidentally deleted everything while making standard changes. Two and a half years of posts written from a place of brokenness in real life, the sweet lessons I had documented throughout marriage and motherhood, my favorite recipes and not to mention the income that I had been working really hard for - all of it was gone in an instant.⠀ ⠀ I cried once on the phone with Jesse, but for the rest of the day I had an overwhelming peace. I was calm with the people trying to help me on the phone. But every time I looked at S+L it said “This website does not exist.” And I prayed with a hurting, but trusting, heart, “Lord, If this is what you had for me and it was only for a season, I trust you.”⠀ ⠀ But, you guys, within hours of finding this out, I got to celebrate my sister‘s announcement of the launch day for her new novel. And then I cried with a dear friend when she announced her long-awaited pregnancy. And what likely might have been feelings of jealousy of them or resentment toward God in the past, with questions like, “Why is this happening to me today?” were replaced with nothing but genuine joy and excitement for the people I love. He surrounded me with people who reminded me that this life isn’t about my accomplishments or successes, but about my people.⠀ ⠀ I didn’t realize until that moment how how much of my life I process through writing. We prayed with my family at the end of the night and by the next morning, most of my site was restored. At that point, there were A LOT of tears. There are some posts that can’t be recovered and all of the writing I had ready but hadn’t published is gone forever. But I don’t mind. I am thankful. I am thankful for every day that this journey of my life offers something I never expected, but more than anything, I’m thankful for sweet lessons of life’s value and of the things that really, really matter. So friends, if you are in a season of confusion or trial, it may be a small bump in the road, or it may be God preparing you for something sweet and new. Either way, He has you. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

If I’m honest, I actually feel like I fail more days than I succeed at being a stay-at-home working mom. I’m torn between accomplishing tasks for my business and being fully present. And it has taken a very long time for me to have the ability to even say that out loud because I‘ve experienced so much “mom guilt”. ⠀ ⠀ This guilt stirs in my heart every single time I send the boys to a babysitter to get work done. It almost always results in the shedding of tears.⠀ ⠀ I scroll through Instagram and see other entrepreneurs dropping their kids off with a nanny, smiling and waving goodbye, and I envy them. I literally wonder to myself, “How do they do that? How do they not feel so guilty every time they drop them off?”⠀ ⠀ This is the part of motherhood that I never expected. The letting go part. And the molding and shaping part that I’ve experienced within myself. That guilt isn’t from Jesus. And I must be crazy to think that my children will only turn out well if they spend 100% of their time with me. These other people in Sutton & Saxon’s lives are massively impactful in their growth as well. ⠀ ⠀ So - thanks to literally hundreds of long conversations with my husband - I’m choosing to believe in the freedom I have in Christ and taking a leap of faith. I’m going to trust that God is in control of my children’s lives and pursue my dream by pouring more time into our flourishing podcast. ⠀ I am crying as I write this - which probably seems so crazy to some - but this mom guilt is real, y’all. It’s heart-wrenching for me. But I pray that my days with the boys will be even more fruitful and beautiful because my soul is refreshed and I am present. ⠀ ⠀ Has anyone else been here? I would love to hear your story. If you’re a momma who experiences guilt, you aren’t alone. And if you‘re a momma who stays home full time, I love and admire you and your children are so blessed. And if you work full time, your children see your strong work ethic, your commitment and will grow up to respect you. We‘re all in this together, and we have to remember that we are already hard enough on ourselves (I know I am.) Let’s be kind and cheer one another on.

“An argumentative and nagging wife is like a constant dripping on a rainy day.” That verse always stings my critical heart. I’d like to say I have a patient spirit, but that's definitely my husband and I'm thankful for that. • • If you've ever had a leak in your ceiling or a leaky faucet, you know that it can cause a lot of irritation. You feel miserable inside of your home because the constant drip, drip, drip gets on your nerves and makes you respond in a way that you normally wouldn't. It is a continual reminder that something is wrong. Our husband's get frustrated in the same way when we nag. There's no right way for him to respond. And he just wants to get the heck out of the house. • • But the more I learn and grow, the more I love that my husband WANTS to be home. That compels me to refresh him when he walks in the door, rather than bombarding him with a list of should-haves and do-nots. It leads me to encourage him and affirm him to no end - even if sometimes I have to search for something to affirm! I remind him of the good, rather than always reminding him that something is "wrong." He is worth it, our marriage is worth it and my sons are always watching. • • Friends - let's set fire to our unending list of expectations and respect him with our words and actions. "An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones." Prov. 12:4. ♥️ Live your life as a crown, not a thorn. ♥️ [To hear more conversations like this on marriage, follow along with @themilkandhoneypodcast ]

Sweet friends, when we sugarcoat a man’s poor character and decisions simply because we like the status of “taken”, that doesn’t make us gracious, it makes us a glutton for punishment. ⠀ ⠀ We often forget that with every guy that we give ourselves over to, either in a ‘Netflix & Chill’ situation or an on-and-off again tumultuous relationship, that we are giving away a huge piece of our hearts that should have belonged to our husbands.⠀ ⠀ You won’t ever get that back. ⠀ ⠀ When we start to believe that we are worth more than an empty and temporary fix - and that we should wait on God to bring one of the good ones - we will begin to see the bigger picture more clearly. ⠀ ⠀ Sweet friends, let your prayer for your relationship today be an echo of Luke 22:42, ‘Not my will, but Yours, be done.” Tag a sweet friend who needs to be reminded that even though the wait is hard, it’s always worth it.
