If you are or are not vegan or an animal rights activist, you may have heard one ot two of us using this exact saying. But where does it come from? After going vegan I was astounded to find out how many people dont know the basic process on how/why milk & dairy is created. Tons of people ACTUALLY believe that cows just naturally produce milk (or some think just an abundance of milk). Let's break this down. Cows, like humans, need to be impregnated in order to produce milk. Common sense, I know, but not to all. Once she is pregnant, like humans again, she nurtures, cares for and grows that baby inside of her for 9 months. Unlike humans, every one of these pregnancies is done forcefully without the mothers concent. This is a confusing process for a cow as once she starts to grow her baby she isnt sure what is happening to her body. 9 months later, she has figured it out and is awaiting the birth of her child. As soon as she gives birth that baby is ripped away from her because that milk she is producing is for us humans. Farmers have often said you can hear the mother crying out for her baby for days on end. just like any mother would. Now, what happens if that baby is born a Male? Males are considered a useless byproduct of the dairy industry as they cant produce milk. These baby males will often be killed immediately, held in crates for weeks on end not able to move and then killed for veal or shipped off to feed lots to be fattened up and killed for beef. (hence, dairy kills) If the baby is female, she will be put back into the perpetual cycle that her mother lives. Dairy cows will dry up and not produce milk after about 5 or 6 years, at wich point they too are considered useless and are shipped off to slaughter...a cows natural lifespan is around 21 years. There are so many alternatives to dairy that dont come along with this hell and death. that dont come along with the added antibiotics fed to these animals, that dont come along with the hormones that the mother produces to grow that baby into a 500lbs cow. Do yourself a favor and check out some nut milk, vegan cheese, vegan yogurt, vegan sour cream, vegan chocolate. Msg me for any help❤
