My extended family came over today to meet me! I have an uncle, an aunt, and an eight year old cousin named Ava! She and I are almost the same age and we loved playing together! When she ran, I ran after her! The game is called Chase! She also fed me pupsicles and hamburgers! She also rubbed my belly. Next time she comes, she is going to sleep over. I am so tired out from all the attention I got. I need to sleep now. #family #sundaybbq #summersundays #lovemyfamily #adoptasenior #adoptdontshop #goodestgoldiegirl #foreverhome #foreverfamily #seniorrescue #rescuedandloved #seniordog #happilyeverafter #happyending #seniordogsofinstagram
I was not too sure about this new treats dispenser toy mommy bought me. It’s called the Kong Wobbler. I backed away from it. So she shook it and the treats fell on the floor and let me eat them that way. We’ll try again tomorrow. #dontlikenewthings #sorrymommy #goodestgoldiegirl #goodestgoldie #adoptasenior #adoptdontshop #seniorrescue #foreverhome #olddogsrule #odnc #seniordogsrock #happilyeverafter #happyending #seniordogsofinstagram
Uh-oh got a vestibular disease ♂️ #felixproblems #olddogvestibulardisease
.
We have had a very eventful month! Felix started having severe balance issues and nausea, and it was clear something pretty serious was happening in his brain (swipe for videos). We are so lucky to have access to amazing veterinary care (especially our regular vet Dr. Alexander at Seaford Veterinary Medical Center) so we could make sure Felix was as comfortable as possible while we figured out what was going on. Symptoms like Felix’s can either be caused by problems with the inner ear, which can just happen randomly in older dogs (basically like vertigo in humans!), or can be a sign of something more serious (like a brain lesion or tumor)
.
I am so grateful to report that in the last week, Felix has almost completely recovered (last video in the series is from earlier this week)! This is a sign that his issues are just isolated vestibular disease and not something more serious. In these cases, dogs usually recover completely, minus a residual head tilt and a bit of a crooked walk (link in bio with info about vestibular disease). Obviously with an older dog like Felix, things can change at any time, so we are appreciating every day with him. But for the moment we are all feeling pretty relieved and thankful he’s still with us and feeling so much better, and hopeful about his prognosis. ❤️
.
PS this means we will be back to posting regularly! Thank you all so much for your thoughts and kind words while we took some time to focus on Felix’s health
Kinda breaking the rules today. Someone was laying by the gate like a good girl and so I decided to let Bella into the home office. She’s just hanging out while I work and she’s even getting to play with one of Diesel’s toys. She never gets to play with stuffies because she’s a resource guarder but this little secret time she’s getting alone in the guest house with me appears to have my Baby Bella pretty dang happy. She’s been an angel while I work.
