Got browse? We need fresh leafy browse to keep patients like this moose calf well-fed. We are looking for aspen, willow, poplar, birch, maple, and alder. If you have any, or work for a tree trimming company that could provide us with fresh browse on a regular basis, please ask them to call us at 403-946-2361 or email us at info@aiwc.ca
Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to pick up browse, it would need to be delivered to our facility NW of Calgary (directions at aiwc.ca). Thank you!
The first moose calf to be admitted to us this year! This little girl is a twin and sadly fell down a hill, away from her mum and sibling, and was caught in some debris. She was thankfully freed and was left in the area in attempts to reunite with mum, but sadly after 24-hrs the mum had still not returned. She is doing well in care and we’re hopeful she continues to thrive!
We have admitted our first black bear cub since being approved to rehabilitate cubs 12-months and younger! Weighing in at 3.6kg and already eating like a champ, this little one will be with us until release in October in accordance with provincial protocols.
Thank you so much to everyone at @wildlifeshelter for providing ongoing support and training to our staff, we truly appreciate it and look forward to continuing on this journey of rehabilitating black bear cubs in need.
You can support the care of this cub by donating today at www.aiwc.shop (link in bio! ) Every little helps and will fund the cub’s love of milk formula and berries ;) Thank you for your support!
