Always keep that in mind that some carpets are “dangerous”. A blanket helps to prevent rug burn and for Kimberly it has lessened the ”sore hocks”. . Sore hocks can be caused by many factors and for KIMBERLY it is also genetic and does affect the feet because the feet are lightly furred. And it gets even worse with all the rugs causing rug burn. Overweight can also causes extra pressure on the feet. You should check the feet daily. We check them every day because Kimberly also had problem with “bumble foot” before so we are extra careful and have varying flooring surfaces. It actually helps, I can tell! And also varying positions for the rabbit. If rabbits cant stretch out they have to spend more time like sitting and if they cant stretch they also cannot exercise as well=putting pressure on their hocks. If they also have to sit on wet floors caused by urin or water they can get infections. . Sarafina actually had sore hocks “just because”. It doesn’t mean that I am a bad pet parent. Sometimes bunnies just get this anyway. But she maybe was thumping when I didn’t see/hear it and spend a lot of time in her litter box when I wasn’t home. She was not overweight but she was a big lady and her feet were lightly furred. She was cagefree. . If you have your rabbit in a cage - Let your rabbit out daily to prevent sore hocks, overweight and also GI-statis. Exercise is so important to prevent so many things. And trim your bunny’s nails. And don’t forget to keep your bunny’s home dry! and clean. Can you see the difference?❤️ . This is cataract. A clouding of the lens and its like seeing through a waterfall. Cataract means waterfall just because of that. Seeing through a waterfall because the vision is blurred. Of course we experience this in different ways like second sight, cloudy sight, blurred etc but as the cataract worsens it gets even harder to see. There are 3 common types of cataracts but the causes and symptoms are so many. Kimberly has Cortical cataract caused by “family history” and her sight is blurred on her right eye. She is “blind” on her left eye but she is reacting to strong light! I was told she was completely blind before, well she cannot see anything but light is light! ☀️❤️ . Oh and this is actually a REWbunny. That stands for Red Eye White. Aren’t these rabbits beautiful . I have visited Kimberly EVERY day in the (animal)hospital and finally we are going home.She had this eye infection because of this cataract (her left eye also got smaller than the other eye) and I will give you more info about it later, it’s been a tough few days for us all, but I have made a short film for you! . Ignore the poop. . I can watch her for hours. She looks so relaxed and she seems to be pain free. She is enjoying her life. . I don’t want my rabbit to suffer but I want my rabbit to live! So I needed someone who wanted that as much as I did. The vet told me that Kimberly is just blind(without suffering!)and that you dont put a rabbit away because of that. Never. .
