MARRAKECH MEDINA ⁣ On the day England hit its hottest ever, I looked to the soaring temperatures and scorching colours of Morocco for dinner. Admittedly, crowding guests into a tiny London flat was ambitious in 37 degree heat, but we supplied piscines a plenty (rose wine with boulders of ice) ❄️⁣ ⁣ Inspired by the potters’ souk, I started with these tile print plates from @anthropologieeu*, laying them in chargers from @halcyondays_uk*. @rajtentclub* is my favourite place for authentic exotic finds; their candle votives, lanterns and glasses cast gorgeous lights across the table. And then the coasters, which even have tassels! ️(* all kindly on loan for dinner)⁣ ⁣ As for the flowers… I went all-out maximal! If you can’t in July when Britain is in bloom, when can you? The @bloomandwild Juliet and Chloe bouquets are all sunset colours with roses, sweet williams and carnations (I embraced the camp!). Using tips from @rowan_blossom’s book, I distributed them between 8 glasses to create a floral runner. The result might be a bit much for the traditional school of flowers, but it I find it joyful! The heat was hard for them, so I refreshed the water lots and kept them in the dark with a fan on… ⁣ ⁣ The tablecloth is a generous lend from my brilliant godmother @doonbrooks - a hand-embroidered paisley pattern ⁣ ⁣ What to cook on such a hot night? Don’t. We actually did all of the cooking the day before, to avoid heating up the room anymore than it needed for our guests (and slaving over a hot stove in the heatwave). The main event was a summer vegetable tagine slow-cooked overnight for 8 hours , served with spiced bulghur wheat, Ottolenghi cherry tomato couscous and roasted carrot salad with mint, pistachios and feta ⁣ ⁣ Then more Moroccan flavours for pudding with sumac-roasted strawberries and cream (another @ottolenghi) and non-Moroccan but chilled and delicious raw chocolate and caramel cheesecake (vegan and gluten free recipe from @livias) ⁣ ⁣ Thanks for taking the heat @maryclairejohnson @daniel_lloyd_johnson, @jackwallingtongardendesign, @lyonanderson, @rococo_londoninteriors, @gav.davis #rohemia #rohemiadinner
