A little mini series from Althorp. . My sister and I decided to take a road trip the other weekend to visit the childhood home of Princess Diana. . The Althorp Estate can be found in Northamptonshire. Its name comes from the parish of Althorp, which makes up the 13,000 acre estate, six miles by road from the town of Northampton. Princess Diana‘s family, the Spencers, have owned the Althorp Estate for over 500 years, with Diana calling the estate home before her marriage to Prince Charles. It is currently owned by her brother Earl Charles Spencer. . Princess Diana’s grave is located on an island in the middle of an ornamental lake on the estate, which was chosen to defend the late princess’ remains from intruders. A memorial for visitors can be found across from the lake, where well-wishers can leave flowers. . We were hoping the collection of her dresses was still on display but unfortunately not! We were told that they were sometimes on show at Kensington so may need a trip to London! The estate isn't open all year round so check their website for opening times before you visit. . Today we're off into the Peaks to visit my favourite Autumnal pub. Shall share more in stories later ☺ .
