Officially one year since we moved back to Michigan and it’s been a wild ride... . . This time last year there were so many unknowns in my life. I was constantly, and I mean constantly, worried about how I was going to start my business (again) in a new location. I was convinced I wouldn’t find any clients because I didn’t know a single person in the Ann Arbor area. I was also adjusting to caring for a newborn full time soooo life was a little crazy . Instead of letting my fear paralyze me, I used that fear as fuel. Fuel to make my dreams a reality. I worked my ass off and went way outside my comfort zone. And you know what?! Things started happening! I met people. Lots of people! Some of them are incredible fellow creatives who supported me instead of competing. I’m so lucky to have this community of insanely talented and wonderful people. I’m learning from them all of the time. . . I found the best clients in the world and my business continues to grow beyond what I could have imagined a year ago. Do I still have a long way to go? Absolutely! Am I finally looking toward the future without fear and dread? You’re damn right I am! . I’m sincerely humbled and forever grateful for everyone who’s helped me on my photography journey so far. Especially, my husband, Justin. He’s my biggest fan and let’s me know all the time and I really love him for that. . You guys im so freaking excited for this season we are currently in! ⠀ •⠀ I’m so privileged to be able to work with all the incredible couples that I do! ⠀ •⠀ Honestly it’s you that makes this career so beautiful! I love documenting all of your beautiful stories so much it makes my heart race. I think it’s because I know how important it is to document where your at. Because truth is you won’t always remember it all. The way your husband looked when he saw you for the first time in white, the way your dad looked when he gave you away, the way you both looked bringing your first baby into the world, the colour of your hair in a certain season, the way your first born reacted when they met their brother or sister for the first time. The pets you had at the time, the house you lived in, all of the details that made it home. Life has been a teensy bit loco lately and I’m behind with sharing on social media. But, this photo from this little gal’s session this fall placed FIRST in one of the largest international photo competitions — The Shoot & Share Contest! It won the top honor in the excitement/emotion category which had more than 10,000 photos. I’m floored and so honored! This cutie pie sure was pumped to become a big sis and rightfully so! I also had 7 photos place as finalists, 8 in the top 10 percent, 9 in the top 20 percent and 6 in the top 30 percent. Made the best of today's rainy overcasty (is that even a word?) sunrise and took these two out for a little fun in the water, sand and light rain.

Do you guys believe the old wives’ tale that heartburn means your baby has lots of hair? I had heartburn every so often with the boys and they were both born with that super stylish grandpa hair, where they’re bald on top and have a ring of hair around the back So they had some hair for sure, but not like a full head of luscious locks. This time around, I wouldn’t be surprised if at this point, my esophagus had just deteriorated from all of the heartburn I’ve had IF I couldn’t feel it still burning all of the time. Heartburn has been brutal this pregnancy, no matter what I eat/do. Although it’s super uncomfortable, I’m hoping it means this baby has a head full of amazing, wild hair. Please tell me that’s been your experience so I can at least feel like sacrificing my esophagus has a purpose ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, this image has reminded me that in 10(ish) weeks, I will be having my own fresh 48 session done, you guys! HOW?! How are we already this close?! I feel like time is moving so slowly and so quickly all at once.
