Last night (see my Stories) I got rid of a lot of personal items I had been holding onto. This was the last step in @mariekondo's method. And rightfully so. Even as a professional purger, this had some difficulty. But in the end, I was able to tidy from two small boxes, one large plastic bin and a trunk full of personal items, to everything fitting neatly and with space, into the one trunk. When I was done, I felt so much lighter, happy with what I kept and at peace that I had items that I truly wanted to carry through life with me. // I can understand why this would be hard for a lot of people. Looking at pile upon pile of photo albums, photos, high school memories, college memories, it can be daunting. But what I thought about was all those memories are stored within me. The people that have remained are a fixture in my life and both of those things are more important to me than holding onto the heaviness of items.‍♀️ // What did I keep?! *Diplomas‍ *Baby Albums *The tops to my cheerleader uniforms. I couldn't get rid of my pom poms, it is the excitement that lives in me that wants to keep cheering, but in a different way now! *My Comic Con Badges & photo booth photos *A few small toys and buttons *Mementos from trips and a few cards. // All that I kept, I held in my hand and knew it needed to stay. I believe in being intentional with my decor. My goal is to fill our home with items that “spark joy,” because guess what.... Marie Kondo was right. This simple truth changed everything for us.
