Starting a new series that I do every year where I preview each position in fantasy and give my top sleeper, bust, breakout and rookie. To kick things off, here are my quarterback predictions...
—
Sleeper: Josh Allen, BUF
The #7 pick in 2018 got off to a shaky start in his rookie campaign but towards the end of the season he started to find his groove. From weeks 12-17, Josh Allen was the #1 QB in fantasy! Yes you read that right. The Bills also added John Brown and Cole Beasley in free agency and took 3 offensive players in the first 3 rounds of the draft.
—
Bust: Jared Goff, LAR
I don’t think Goff will be terrible but it’s tough to find any busts this year in the QB position so I’m going with the most overrated guy in my opinion with Jared Goff. He had a really solid season in 2018 but I kinda feel like he hit his ceiling. I’m also big in Todd Gurley this year so I don’t expect the Rams to shift to a pass-first offense like most people expect.
—
Breakout: Lamar Jackson, BAL
If you want a more detailed explanation then check my Hot Take Tuesday post from May 29th but to keep it simple, I just LOVE the upside Lamar Jackson possesses. I’ll be the first to admit he’s not the best real-life QB, however, that doesn’t matter in fantasy. Jackson should easily hit 1000 rushing yards this season which is 100 fantasy points right off the bat.
—
Rookie: Kyler Murray, ARI
Pretty easy one here as Kyler Murray is the only rookie QB you should be thinking about drafting. Dwayne Haskins and Daniel Jones could see some action later in the season but I doubt they’ll be fantasy relevant. Similar to Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray is a fantastic dual-threat QB which gives him a very high ceiling this year.

Week 1 of the preseason kicks off tonight with 11 games and that means another edition of our 'Preseason Players to Watch', highlighting noteworthy fantasy options for the upcoming season.
Today's Players to Watch:
1. #DavidMontgomery- A very promising rookie RB2/Flex option and likely the top rookie RB when it comes to upside in both PPR and standard scoring formats. Should he take over as a true 3-down back, he has realistic top 10 potential in his rookie year. Keep a close eye on his usage in the redzone and his workload split between him and Tarik Cohen (if playing), especially in terms of carries and targets out of the backfield.
2. #KylerMurray- Even despite his ADP being an unfavorable mid-8th rounder, Murray is a must watch player in the preseason. Many drafts will likely see him slip past that point due to being a rookie and not having the traditional route of production (passing-wise). Preferred as a QB2 but viable as a low-QB1 with a safe backup (Cousins, Prescott, Rivers, etc.) But the key thing to watch tonight is his effectiveness in the rushing game and the production of the Kingsbury offensive scheme.
3. #KalenBallage- Listed as the 'starter', Ballage should be expected to see approximately half the carries out of the backfield but limited usage in the receiving game due to Kenyan Drake. His mid-to-late 10th round ADP (44th RB off the board) makes him a major sleeper but the preseason is a make or break point for Ballage, guiding him either towards a heavier workload or sitting behind Drake in both carries and receiving duties, with little between. RB2 upside is a possibility for him but a focal point to watch is his workload split with Drake alongside the two's split in goal-line and receiving touches.
