HOW TO MAKE SUMMARY DOCUMENTS Hi all! So, some of you may have seen my stories recently and my revision technique of making 2-4 page summary documents for each topic of my modules. I thought today I would talk you through how I do this and the key things to include in this summary page.
So, first off, I work from the posters and flashcards I have already made (and I have already posted about these). The posters include all of the key information that I need to know, and the flashcards help me learn the cases.
When going over these, I speak out loud to myself (I know, I probably sound crazy but this really helps me), and talk over all of the elements of the poster. Once I feel like I have remembered all of the key information and the cases, I move on to making the summary documents.
I make them on word, and basically type up all of the key information I remember from my posters. I do it in a CONDENSED format - so only put down in note form, key phrases, sentences etc to help jog your memory. For cases, I only include a short summary of the decision and the effect of it.
Once I have written everything I remember, I then go back and add anything I may have forgotten and go over these parts again. I then highlight and change the colour of key words such as legislation, cases etc. Then, I will try and read over this summary document for 5 mins every day to keep myself remembering the topic well.
I also read through my big document of article reading for the topic, and condense it down into individual arguments, summarising the key points made by the author. These are much smaller quotes / ideas and much easier to remember for exams.
I hope this helps! Any questions let me know in the comments. ❤️
