_Coded//Sidearm_L_Gui[H] "CARNAL" _Features: Guidi >X-Pac >Taped _HoldCapacity: Supplementary EDC _Status: Future Product (count: 5) Earlier this year I met @DunklesFleisch through a mutual friend. His interest primarily lies in "artisanal" fashion. The various brands he introduced me to through the outfits he'd wear when we'd hang out started to make me less interested in techwear as a whole. Now I have a greater appreciation for the ideas and concepts of brands outside the techwear umbrella. Ultimately, I started to want to move away from the standard techwear ideas and motifs. At some point Brandon pitched to me the idea to create a Guidi Sidearm for him. Brandon was able to source a side of Guidi culatta. It started brown but we dyed it black in order to fit both his own style and the _Coded aesthetic. Besides the leather body, this would have all standard Sidearm features. He requested taped seams to make it as waterproof as possible. Finally, he was firm on red X-Pac lining. He wanted a leather outer and red inner to symbolize this as "flesh and blood," effectively making it a "body" that can securely contain anything held inside of it. This project turned out to be about 3 times harder and longer to make than a standard Sidearm due to the leather's thickness. My sewing needle popped at one point and I had to start stitching by hand with the sewing machine's crank. Sometimes I had to stitch four layers of horse leather together. I FUCKING HATED THIS and I expressed to Brandon how much I hated him for asking me to make this; I made sure to remind him every hour I worked on it. I finished the commission after six hours of work. When I completed and reflected on the Sidearm realized IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! It screamed Blade Runner to me. _______ Overall the experience was worth it, despite the stress.
