UPDATE: SOLD How else could I celebrate my newly-awarded signature member status at #pastelsocietyofamerica as to paint? Yesterday was a beautiful day so I headed out to the sea but I needed some challenge I’d painted quite a lot of sea en plein air but never wave closeups. To be honest, it IS overwhelming and my first thought was how on earth I was going to do it! Waves come and go every few seconds and they all are very different especially if you paint on a rocky shore like I did. However, if you watch them long enough, you’d notice that there are repetitions. Having chosen the type of a wave you want to paint, you just need to be patient. It may take you quite a few waves before the one you’re painting will appear again. It will require the highest concentration from you, too, to memorize this wave at the stage you’ve chosen to paint which lasts only a fraction of a second. I am very happy with my first attempt and think I’m hooked now and there will be more plein air wave closeups coming! These two minis (15x15cm) - ‘Wave fragmentations I and II’ (please swipe) - are now available unframed just in time for Mother’s Day at 75€ each plus p&p (10€ worldwide, registered mail). This usually causes huge waves to appear around 10 minutes after the ferry has passed by.
