Transcript: Hello everyone! I am so excited because @electric_forest forest is happening so soon! Well, not actually soon as it is 3 months away but I am still excited, okay?!? If you yourself are Deaf, hard of hearing, use sign language as your mode of communication, and are going to the festival, please send in your requests for interpreting services! For what you might ask? Music acts, workshops, festival socializing, anything you want really! Send in your requests to access@electricforestfestival.com. This will be my third year interpreting at Electric Forest. It is the best place in the whole world. Also, I forgot; please send in your interpreting requests by May 1st as that is our deadline for requests. Please come and join me for a boogie!!! I can’t wait to see you there!
I’ll be posting more about the ASL Program at @electric_forest as the festival approaches but just wanted to get the word out to get those requests in!! #asignaday ”OVERWHELMED” The way I sign this is your hands fly past your head behind you as if your stress is washing over you in a wave. It’s an intense emotion. If you’ve been experiencing that state of “absolutely overwhelmed” lately, I feel you. It happened. You committed yourself to too much. Your schedule is jam packed with responsibilities and things to do and people to possibly disappoint. There is no time left to take care of yourself or relax. It all feels like too much for one human to handle. You’re busy with life and then something bad happens. A negative emotion arises that you have to deal with but have no time to process. At this moment, you’ll probably feel overwhelmed. This overflow of stress and emotion can be a useful tool in showing us where we need to slow. Where we need to direct focus, and where we need to let go. Similar to physical illness as our body’s message to “SLOW DOWN AND REST SOMETHING’S WRONG”, that feeling of being overwhelmed is our mind telling us something needs to change. Where can you make space for ease? Take some deep breaths. Quiet your racing thoughts for just a moment. You got this. You’ve done it a million times before. When you were a baby and felt overwhelmed, you’d cry and scream and your mom would quiet you with food or a nap. Now that you’re bigger, how can you quiet yourself? Take care of yourself this week, friends. And if you’re overwhelmed, it’ll pass. I promise.

#asignaday ”HOME” Make your hand into that shape where you would mimic someone saying “blah blah blah” and touch it to the bottom of your cheek near your chin and then the top of your cheek near your temple. This sign does not exactly refer to a house or structure where you reside, but your “home”. The idea of that place you live. Where you belong. Where do you feel at home? Anymore, I think my home is just me. Where I’m at. Where I feel comfortable. I’m able to feel at home now just alone in a quiet place reading a book, inside the shade of the trees at @electric_forest , in a close friends’ cozy house, next to a fireplace during the winter holidays. Home is not a place you go. It’s a feeling you keep with you. If you stay close to yourself and who you are, you’ll always feel at home. Others may tell you that no, home is where you came from, the town where you were born, the people who raised you. Never forget that home is where YOU are. At the end of this video I signed “MY HOME HERE”. Meaning “my home is here.” Thanks for watching, homies.
