Could you build an ideal meal that is going to actually assist you toward your goals? Essentially you want to include all of the macronutrients into your meal. Yes, that means carbs and fat too. If you take a look at my plate, you see I've hit: protein: - seitan is the main source (my vegan steak) Carbs: - Broccoli, - aspargus, - carrots, - and I've also added in a starchy carb which is the pasta. If I had a potato at the time, I would have used that instead. I love potatoes. Fat - Avocado Now should you eat this exact meal with the exact proportions? Maybe, but most likely not; this meal is meant for me and my needs. How would you begin creating a meal for yourself and your needs? Start with the basics: 1-2 palm sizes of protein 1-2 fist sizes of fibrous carbs like veggies 1-2 cupped palm sizes of starchy carbs 1-2 thumb sizes of a fat source If you want to lose weight, you can remove 1/2 to 1 cupped handful of starchy carbs or 1 thumb sized portion of fat. If you want to gain, do the exact opposite. Pay attention to how your body feels and make adjustments as necessary. Some people do better on more fat than carbs and vice versa.
