Instead of fight her natural tones we decided to keep her bright and harness her underlying pigment to our advantage. If you want to cancel out copper tones you have to drop a minimum of one level. If your toner is very opaque you may need to drop two. For this guest we decided to keep her bright and utilize the warm tones to our advantage between sessions. . Your camera will pick up different tones in the hair just like your eye will see different tones in all different kinds of light. This is my #internaldiamond model from my last class in San Diego at @jaydenpresleigh , see how the hair changes in different lighting along with the contrast? . One of the things I show during my classes is how the hair can look different in all kinds of lighting. I also show how I adjust pictures and post to Instagram. I am a firm believer in slight adjustments to pictures if needed. Now this doesn’t mean that you’re going to go in and completely change the hair from what it actually looked like. The goal is never to re-create something that didn’t actually happen. The goal is to adjust the hair to what it actually looked like when your guest left. As we all know it’s extremely difficult to picture the hair in a way that is true to color. So that is why I am pro picture adjustment and against picture transformation. . Want to learn? 8 Months, 5 corrective appointments, 18+ hours of work and the picture on the left becomes the picture on the right. . Overnight transformations are great! But lets be honest...they are more often than not, damaging to the hair. Healthy hair is always my first priority, your overall color goal and lightness is my second. Maybe that sounds a bit harsh...but it is just me speaking my truth! If the hair is light but frazzled, it will never look like the picture on the right. Now if it is healthy because you made the best of the in-between stages and trusted your stylist through the process then you WIN in the long term. . I push my girls out so long because I strive for low maintenance even in a corrective situation. This doesn’t mean I will let you walk around with a hot mess. It does mean that I value you, your time, your investment in your hair and in me. So I customize routines for my guest that gives maximum wear out of your hair. . In salon highlight routines range from 12 weeks-24 weeks while in salon maintenance is typically planned between larger sessions. Large sessions(3+ hours) = $300-$450+ while Maintenance Sessions(1.5-2hrs) if needed = $112-$230+. The range is based on what exactly you need.
