It's pretty much her life goals right now to just hold as many chickens as she can in a day. She spends so much time following them around and trying to pick them up. When she finally gets one she gently holds them and slowly walks around showing them the flowers, the worms and whatever else she finds interesting, talks to her "baby" chickens, all with the most contented look on her face.
She melts me This is my favorite part about having animals!

True facts about chickens:
1) They are smart and can be trained. When free-ranging, I can call them and they all come back to the coop.
2) Chickens like watermelon - a lot. I like to freeze slices to take them in the afternoons on hot summer days. Double bonus... if I call them and have watermelon, it makes training them to come back to the coop far easier.

Chickens are a lot like kids...
“You guys know there’s another bench right?“
“Yeah but I want to be on this bench!“
“Me too!”
“Me too!”
“No fair! There’s no more room for me!”
“Yes there is. See that whole empty space?”
“But I want to be on this side!”

Lamb Tamer
Our children often find life's challenges difficult to negotiate. From winning at school, to building friendships, to managing daily routines, they have some struggles. Where human interactions can be fraut, the same isn't to be said of those with animals. A child who can often be frustrated by people can demonstrate the most patience and kindness to animals. Theo in particular is our animal tamer. He can break through even to the wildest silliest sheep and create trust and a connection.
