Lullaby 2018 baimudan white tea from @white2tea • I received this compressed tea coin from Paul during a tasting in Madison, but then promptly misplaced it. • I’m glad I found it, because this is a fantastic fresh white tea. The leaf material is beautiful and comes from Yunnan. There are many buds and full leaf-sets. • The taste profile is mainly honey and flowers. A sweet, easy-drinking white tea with a mild dryness to keep things from getting boring. • My favorite aspect of this tea is how long it lasts. Just look at these fluffy beauts ^o^ • The ever so generous @mbfleur_tea sent me 3 tins of tea by post. They’re little treasure boxes filled with precious cargo. Thank you so much Marianne, it was such a joy to receive your tea-mail and I’m super excited to taste the other two treasures soon. • This was a @mei_leaf 2017 spring Silver Needle. • A dry leaf aroma of warm straw, a raisin sweetness, dry wood/liquorice stick. Wet leaf smelled like grilled peach. • I got 5 brews out of it. It started off fruity, peachy with a bit of unripe peach tartness. A long lingering sweetness despite a too lightly brewed first brew. Slowly from brew 3 astringency was building a little, but pleasantly and the overall mouthfeel was still soft. So, my first tea of yesterday was the 2018 baimudan from the @white2tea #white2teaclub. Now, I admit that the more buds in a white the less I tend to like it. That said, this wasn’t that bad. I went through quite a few infusions - probably 2/3 of a liter was used. Aroma of the dry leaf was kind of fruity - a bit like an apple jolly rancher. Taste was like grain under floral notes. Texture was very oily earlier on and probably led me to actually giving this tea s fair chance. So, #white2teaclub from @white2tea with double the white teas this month. Had this, the Zhanglang twice. I’ll include the picture of the text so I don’t have to type it all up. I like this. Reminds me a bit of the 2014 shoumei that I really like. Not super drying and not bud heavy. My kind of thing. I forgot to take notes so I don’t have tasting notes. Oh, I used 7.5g to 100cc and boiling water both times. #always100c #always212f And the 2018 baimudan was ok. Not quite as much my thing but dry it smelled like apple jolly ranchers.
