For the longest time Jeff wanted to get houseplants and I would tell him “I cannot be responsible for one more living thing!” He travels a lot for work, so the plants would be my responsibility. As a new mom, I felt so maxed out, that keeping even a cactus felt like too much. Fast forward a few years and a few babies later, and I am taking such pride in my little plant collection. It wasn’t the right season for me then, and I’m glad I listened to that instinct. Because now I can find joy in my plants, and not see watering as one more thing on my to-do list. This new little fern from @bayhayandfeed is one of my favorites

Here is the full view of the painting in my last post - I can share it now that I’ve given it to my sister for her birthday! I saw this sunset on the island of Oahu this past winter - the colors reflected in the clouds there each night are truly spectacular.

So many sweet peas! I love growing these, they make my entire home smell like heaven! Two lessons learned for next year. 1)I’ll need a taller, stronger, better quality trellis for them to climb. 2)I will plant them in the back of the garden as opposed to the front so they don’t block the view of everything else due to their massive height.

I could paint this view of Bainbridge Island and the Olympic Mountains as seen from the aft deck of the ferry over and over all day long but it’s extra special to paint it for a friend and fellow islander for her birthday. Here’s to you and a great year ahead! @melonisea

Cabbage leaves and muddy knees. If I could turn our entire 10 acre farm into a garden I would. I’m sure our goats, sheep, and alpacas would happily trade in their pastures for lots of yummy veggies.

Dreamy, soft July skies. This view of “The Brothers” will never get old - totally unique in each season. These mountains call to me every time I look at them, and still I haven’t been out there to explore. Be still my heart. Soon.

What are your 5 favorite flowers? There’s no way for me to choose just one favorite. I think mine are (in no particular order) Peonies, dahlias, sweet peas, alliums, and gladiolus. But sunflowers, lavender, lupine, larkspur, hydrangea, and poppies are amazing too, it’s so hard to decide. .
