Just a simple quick lunch today! Pesto Beans + Crispy Air-fried Potatoes + Cucumber + Tomatoes + Peas + Avocado + loads of spinach underneath! I added some vegan mayo after the photo! Would you rather choose taste/habit or life? By life I mean an animals life, a different species from us, that can still feel pain, emotion and is conscious of what is going on. I chose to become vegan because I have educated myself and seen what is going on in the meat, dairy & egg industries. It isn’t fair that I was paying money for farmers to mistreat these living beings for my food. Using animals is so old fashioned don’t you think? We don’t need to eat animals and the things that come out of animals. We can survive and be healthy on plants. It’s time to change. For a healthier planet and to love our animals and stop the violence! I know I have always preached balance on here but it hasn’t always been that simple for me. Awhile back I tried tracking my macros but after a few months of that I stopped. Long story short: it became super obsessive for me. I would like to say that I stopped because I realized that back then but honestly I stopped bc this last semester was busy & I felt like I just didn’t have the time At this time I decided to focus realllly hard on trying to eat intuitively while truly listening to my body So thats where I’m at now. This is the most in-tune with my body I have ever felt. I feel confident around food, whereas before I felt like I wasn’t in control & would always overeat. I can now listen to my hunger cues; eat when I’m hunger, stop when I’m not. I don’t feel the need to overeat on sweets bc I don’t restrict myself from them anymore. If I want a cookie, I’ll have one. I eat ice cream at least once a week because I love it & it makes me happy. No i’m not perfect, I still have struggles & no it wasn’t just an easy switch. It’s hard at first but I’m always improving, learning & working toward my own individual balance. & it feels so good to say that!!! While I did learn a lot about nutrition, like the relative amount of protein, carbs & fat in foods bc of tracking, I just don’t want to live in that kind of strict structure around food anymore. I don’t want to be controlled by my food. Food brings me joy, I absolutely love trying new foods or going to new places & tracking just ruined that for me I still try to balance my meals so that I have a protein, carb & fat. I still try to make sure I’m getting enough protein. Except w/o an app, w/o the stress or guilt if it’s not perfect & within what actually sounds GOOD to me to eat at any given time If tracking works for you in a way that isn’t restrictive or depriving then thats great! But I’m here to tell ya that you do not need it to live a “balanced” lifestyle. You are capable of finding that balance within yourself, you just have to trust yourself, invest in yourself & give yourself time. Everyone has their own struggles, be kind to others & always yourself Food deets below
