Be brave enough to heal yourself, even when it hurts ✨ // we started off week 2 of #yogateachertraining today with an eye gaze #meditation and it reminded me of just how uncomfortable it is for me to allow my true Self to be seen. Who is my true Self even? Where have I gone? What do I need? What can I let go of? There are parts of myself, as well as deep pain I have acquired throughout my life that I’ve locked away and tried to ignore, but allowing myself to be vulnerable this morning and open up unlocked the flood gates and a rush of emotions has enveloped me entirely; pain is pouring out of me through tears. I feel emotionally hungover in a way, do you know what I mean? Sure, I share my life on the Internet but the reality is I only show you what I want to show you, and often times what I choose to show you is all I choose to see for myself... but healing doesn’t come when you turn your head away from the uncomfortable feelings (which I’ve been doing for a very long long time) it comes when you face the heaviness head on with acceptance, and then do your best to process it all with love and compassion. You can’t heal what you refuse to feel; let yourself FEEL and be exactly as you are right now, without judgement or expectations - it is #HEALTHY to feel, cry and release; acknowledge what comes up, breathe, let it be... then let it go thank you thank you thank you to my incredible teachers @david_yogasana @selineabroad @davidlertsin for giving me a safe space to process and explore the parts of myself that I’ve kept hidden; every day I peel back another layer and discover another piece of myself here ✨ #namastshay
Bali is a real life Instagram vs reality. All the pictures I saw before I came here were so picturesque and perfect. And a lot of Bali is that way, don’t get me wrong, it’s truly a dreamland. But a lot of what you don’t see in pictures are the tiny roads and plastic littered everywhere. Just as most people (myself included) choose to share only the best pictures, when there is so much more behind the scenes and in real life. So here’s your daily reminder not to hold your expectations too high and mighty, or better yet go places with no expectations at all, and everything you experience will be just as it is

Expansion allows your inner being to grow from your comfort zone into a state of possibility. When you expand your perspective, perception and your body, you enter a field of spaciousness where you can get a glimpse of genuine freedom. Sine we are constantly in a state of expansion and contraction, this practice will ask you to look at those places where you are holding stagnation and get into an inquisitive nature. This allows you to become curious about the possibility. The "what if" question that can take you to new paths and new creative ideas.
This new @youtube class is great for anytime of the day, especially to awaken yourself during times of fatigue, exhaustion and stress. The movements are slight variations of traditional poses but help access the issues in your tissues and challenge you beyond your comfort zone. This quick but effective 30 minute practice is a well rounded sequence to help you connect back to yourself and expand your horizon.

These past few days I’ve been riding the wave of emotions, feeling more sensitive and experiencing intense highs and lows.. all in what feels like a short period of time.
I’ve been using a few tricks/reminders to help re-center myself and I thought I’d share them in case there are others going through the same:
Spend more time alone ~ giving myself time and space to process my emotions is top priority.
Sit with each emotion; feel and honor whatever is showing up. If I start spiraling down on the emotional scale, I try to become aware of it immediately and get down to the root cause of it. (Rather than dwell in self-pity and extend that negative energy to those nearby.)
Take responsibility & reclaim my power ~ I like to remind myself that I am in control with how I feel. Nobody can make me feel a certain way. It’s my choice within every moment.
Trust my emotions. Think of them as a guidance system and allow them to show me what in my life is out of alignment with my soul/higher self.
Ultimately, remember that emotions are such a beautiful gift ~ they guide us and take us from one inner state to another. Life is much deeper and richer thanks to the fact we FEEL different emotions. Learn to love and embrace this + remember: this too shall pass, the wave comes and goes. ✨
