#barre3westloop Founding Instructor, Emma is soaking up loads of inspiration for her classes while visiting her hometown, and home base of #barre3, Portland, OR. Here she is following class with CEO and #barre3 Founder, Sadie Lincoln
When asked, “Why barre3?” Emma had this to say, “I came to barre3 after having 3 back surgeries and struggling to find the right work out. 7 years later, my back pain is almost completely gone and I’m stronger inside and out. I’m so grateful to part of this beautiful Barre3 community ❤️”
The ultimate crew.

This morning was a good morning. Andrew and I usually spend time during the weekend for ourselves, him at the gym and me at the studio. But sometimes 3+ hours gone between the two of us can be kinda tough. I subbed this morning and he suggested he come (first time in my class)! We were able to bring the kids and leave them with our amazing FD/PL staff. Feeling very grateful for such a supportive husband while I follow my dreams. @amfath @barre3ftthomas @barre3 •

Sunday evenings are a favorite of mine just as much as Sunday mornings ☀️ My porch, cool breezes, staring out into greenery, are a few little things that bring me joy and realize how lucky I am to be home. The start of summer has been chaotic, so I cherish moments when I allow myself to just be - after all, that’s my only option since I’m still recovering.
My body is responding well to some solid foods! I’ve been mostly living off of smoothies, soups, yogurt, and mashed potatoes (can’t complain there). High protein + soft food diet have been my safety diet for the last week or so, but I’m slowly introducing veggies (very very softly cooked) and “rougher” protein. This is a typical dinner for me which is enough to keep me full for a long time. Smaller and more frequent meals are the way to go!
I’m back to the hospital to meet with my surgeon as a follow up tomorrow. I’m pray for this drain (aka my leash) to come out!! Tis all. Have a lovely Sunday evening
I took my first barre3 class just a few days after the studio opened. Truth be told, I was terrified to walk through the doors and probably would have chickened out on taking that first class if an incredibly passionate employee at a Lululemon in Portland hadn’t basically forced me into it. I was just coming out of recovery for my eating disorder and nothing seemed more terrifying than the idea of exercising in front of people. I walked in to that first class so scared that my vision was a little blurry. I walked out of that class knowing that this was something I had to be a part of. The day I auditioned to be an instructor, While I stood, silently praying that no one would notice how badly my hands were shaking, one of the other instructors walked up to me and put her hands over mine, “remember, we don’t need someone we already have, we need a Brenda, go be Brenda”. I think perhaps there, getting that advice while standing in the hallway of the studio, was one of the first times I felt totally seen. I had found a place that I didn’t just fit in, but that I felt wanted. I felt comfortable in my skin, I felt comfortable in my personality, I was encouraged to be more than I thought I could be, and quite literally had a mirror held up to all that I was. Today marks 5 years of teaching. Today marks 5 years of being so fucking inspired by everyone who walks through those doors and teaches me daily. Today marks 5 years into a journey that changed my life and broke me open in ways I could have never imagined. If you ever wonder why I get so damn excited in class when you hold a pose longer, or why I will ecstatically point out each little place I see you getting stronger, and celebrate the heck out of each baby step I see you take, it’s because what I really see is you breaking open too. I see you feeling good in your skin. I see you. Being given the opportunity to hold space for, be taught by, and hold up a mirror to, all the sparkling, shining, and profoundly strong people I get to see in this place will forever be one of the biggest gifts and joys of my life. #guesshowmanytimesicriedwritingthis #instructorversary
Happy 10 YEARS Lynne! Join us in congratulating our amazing instructor, studio mentor and friend Lynne on this unbelievable achievement. Did you know Lynne was one of the original barre3 instructors when @sadielincoln opened up the first studio in Portland? In the past 10 years she’s taught 2,100 classes and impacted the lives of thousands. She brings such joy to all those around her that we truly can’t imagine our studio without her. Come give a big sweaty hug and join in the celebration tomorrow morning for her 8:30 and 9:45 am classes
