Give this workout a go if you're up for death Feels amazing to have more food in me, just killed this lower body workout. I haven't squatted with the bar for awhile so i'm so excited to bring my strength back up. Also for those wondering I am back to tracking my macros already!! Not trying to fall off track, I want to put some healthy weight on and build muscle while keeping my lean physique. I can see why so many people fall off track and lose it after competing. The most important thing is to always have a goal and never be satisfied. Im starting to supplement with creatine hcl pre and post workout, super good for muscle growth and performance. @cliquenutrition got me all hooked up, seriously go check them out if you haven't.. you wont find their deals anywhere else!!!!!!! •

One post that has stuck in my head since it was posted a number of weeks ago now has helped me massively while transitioning from stage lean into a short improvement phase! So I thought I would share it again for anyone who hasn’t seen it

Thanks for this! Repost @calum_themusclementors

Females and muscle growth!
.
You say you want to develop your physique...but are you willing to FULLY commit to the process?
.
There are a few intricacies when it comes to female physiology that we need to manoeuvre around and manage, but for the most part, the cornerstones of female physiology are very much similar to males.
.
You must be willing to train HARD, look at those girls around you with the most muscle, they are also going to be the strongest, and the ones who know how to take a set all the way.
.
Spend less time following the ‘booty workouts your favourite Gymshark athlete is posting (she’s probably not even doing it for herself, it’s just for the gram), and more time taking inspiration from some of the heavily muscled females around you.
.
You must be willing to eat. This can be a huge mental battle for many, as you will get emotionally attached to being lean, but understand that the obsession of being lean year round is the exact fixation that will stop you from reaching your tie muscular potential in the future.
.
You must train without your recovery capabilities. I’d say 90% of females who enrol into the coaching with me, end up reducing their total training volume significantly as one of the first adjustments we make. Focus on quality, not quantity, stop viewing training energy expenditure, and start viewing it as stimulus for growth.
.
Use enough total training volume to still be able to recover sufficiently and progress sessions consistently (this is probably much lower than you think).
.
Spend less time worrying about tracking your vegetables (just eat them, consistently) and more time obsessing over your log book.
.

Let’s get back to basics- what’s a macro? “Macros” are short for macronutrients: proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Food contain these macronutrients, and each plays an important role in your health. Macros are a tool we use to individualize your caloric intake to optimize your performance, physique and overall health.
-
Protein- Protein not only helps us build muscle, but also aid in growth/repair of all tissues in your body and regulate vital chemical processes. 1 gram of protein= 4 calories. Protein is not used as a energy source unless you’re starving and fats and carbs aren’t available.
Carbs- your body’s preferred energy source, think ATP production! Carbohydrates provide fuel for high intensity, all out exercise. 1 gram of carb=4 calories.
Fats- Your body will use fats for fuel during longer, lower intensity exercise. 1 gram of fat= 9 calories, making it the most nutrient dense of the macros. Fats play a critical role in hormone production, vitamin absorption, brain function and more.
-
Once we determine the appropriate calorie intake for your goals, we set macro targets based off a combination of your current physiological stats, your preferences and what the research suggest to be optimal for your goals and health status!!

It’s hard to keep motivated when you didn’t get what you wanted. Often we feel like “I might as well give up because what does it matter?” I’m here to tell you it matters. Not giving up is just as valuable as the achievement itself. And sometimes even more valuable a quality. Deciding to pick yourself back up when you feel like you didn’t reach your potential is paramount in attaining the potential you know you have. Focus. Determination. Getting right back up. It’s all part of achieving tour goals. So, pick yourself up buttercup. We’re just getting started. .

It’s #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and the theme for this year is body image
.
This is a topic that is very close to me, not only through my work but also within myself.
I’ve always been very body conscious. I was an overweight kid and a curvy teen. Like most, school was a self conscious struggle. Getting into the gym during uni not only caused physical changes but I became so much more confident. My love for training grew and I competed in my first bikini competition
.
Don’t get me wrong, I (in a way ) loved the process of comp prep. BUT during those 6 months, my happiness solely came from a drop in the scales and seeing my body getting leaner. I was getting so many compliments about my body and I felt great
.
My happiness was attached to my physical appearance. So when my teeny tiny body went away after the show, so did my happiness
.
The compliments disappeared and I was no longer #bodygoals
.
For months I dreaded social occasions because all my ‘normal’ clothes didn’t fit me the same. I was anxious about seeing people I hadn’t seen in ages in case they judged my new found body fat. I was terrified that people would think I’d ‘let myself go’
.
I didn’t want to talk or open up about it. I’ve always been known as the one who ‘has their shit together’ so I didn’t want to seem weak or for people to think less of me
.
I took months to realise that my self worth and who I am as a person has NOTHING to do with my body fat %. My friends and family don’t love me for how I look or how well defined my muscles are
.
It’s a huge cliche but happiness REALLY does come from within. Stop placing it on something as temporary as a physique (don’t expect your body to look the same in 30 years time)
.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to change your body but make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. Stop thinking happiness will come at size ‘X’ or when you reach ‘Y’kg. You deserve to love yourself, feel beautiful & be happy no matter your size
.
Body image issues occur in all ages, sizes and genders - so NEVER think that you are alone or ‘stupid’ for feeling the way you do. If you struggle with this TALK nothing good ever comes from keeping things bottled up❤️
“I eat every three hours. I sleep for about 7-8 hours. I have 5-6 litres of water. I pray just to keep calm (ask my boyfriend about it ) but the most important thing I truly have as a therapy is my smile ... sometimes I need it just to keep me away from falling into the duldrums. .
