..•Mzee•.. So.... This is Fred Matovu Kasolo. My Biological Father. Yesterday, His 74th Birthday, I Met Him For The 1st Time, Ever... Those that know ME know that The journey leading up to this moment has been overwhelming to say the least. It has challenged me, Tested me, It has broken me.. My plan and vision, how I imagined our very 1st time meeting would play out, got scattered. My Phone gets stolen right before the show in Uganda last Friday. Access GONE, including Plans and contacts for this surprise ‘meet’... But God yh Aite cool; All your prayers, Facebook & Good ‘ole Instagram get me in contact with family, and we meet... On arrival, My Father has absolutely no idea who I am. He has dementia... I try to explain who I am, but in vain as I find myself having to repeat every 5 minutes as he forgets. His attempts to try and remember or recognise me overwhelm him too..For him, ‘Christina’ is a memory that comes to mind from time to time, but he doesn’t know where she is..... I’m heartbroken. I now have to accept that the past 28 years, He can not recall or take responsibility for, and any questions I have, he may never be able to answer... So in that moment, tears and all, I pluck up the courage to let go and make a conscious decision to start creating good memories... I take him and the family to lunch for his birthday. He is so quiet the whole time, just keeps looking at me... Not gonna lie, was starring at him too, like rah that’s my dad! Lol.. We take him back home and it’s when we’re about to leave, he prays and speaks a blessing over me in Luganda.. He starts to well up and so do I.. I tell him I Love him and I leave... Wow... God did it. Only God could have orchestrated THIS Moment THIS Way.. Wounds, I can now address and heal from.. properly. Please pray for us..
