I like this technique better. Going with it .. .. .. Salt breaks down the Bob Dively’s liquid mask. So I couldn’t use salt-chip method on my masked edges. Instead, I’m doing the smart thing: after I cut and peel the first areas of color, I am speckling random spots by dabbing the brush of liquid mask where I want the ‘faded’ off paint (pic 3 & 4). Once the first color is on and dried, simply rub off the liquid mask to your liking, and it looks weathered thru (pic 1) .. .. .. Second notable result (happy accident): by not rubbing all the speckled masking off under that first color, it creates a hammered or ‘bubbled and ready to peel’ look in the paint. Sneak peak of what I've been working on. Once the liquid mask dries completely, it turns into a latex coating that can be drawn on then carefully cut out intricate designs. I like it on curved surfaces rather than tape that wants to keep lifting.
