Vieillie en fût de vins rouges (Margaux, Pomerol ou St-Emilion) et macérée avec 15kg de framboises par hectolitres, voici, mesdames zé messieurs, la Cuvée Freddy - Framboos de la brasserie Alvinne (Moen, Flandre-Occidentale) que j'avais en cave depuis 2 bonnes années et dont j'ai eu envie après avoir bu une triple IPA à 10,5, hazy à mort. Je me suis dit, tiens, peut-être que l'acidité d'une dark sour à la framboise vieillie et en fut de pif, va me refaire le palais après les 44cl d'avoine et d'huile de houblons que je viens de m'envoyer. J'ai des raisonnements assez dingos quand je suis pété. Et bien devine quoi ? ça a marché. Mais attend, je vais un peu vite en besogne, comme me le répète ma femme après que j'eusse terminé au bout de 17 secondes. Avant de te raconter comment que ça s'est passé dans mon palais, laisse moi te parler du nez, qui sent incroyablement bon et fort la framboise. Mais pas l'arôme de framboise hein, on est pas chez Mort Subite ici ! Non, non, la framboise fraiche, juteuse, acidulée, naturelle, celle que tu cueilles lors de ta promenade en forêt d'où tu ramènes un tique qui te refile la maladie de Lyme. Derrière, tu sens une ambiance vineuse et boisée. Mais ce sont incontestablement les framboises qui dominent. Coup d'état de la framboise. Et donc en bouche, dès la première gorgée, voilà les reste de ma Triple IPA décapés manu militari, sans sommation, en mode flic qui dégomme du Gilet Jaune par derrière, par une acidité sacrément offensive, très astringente, puissamment acétique, et qui se termine par une note si aiguë, que ça flirte avec le vinaigre. Mais sans y sombrer pour autant. C'est hyper acétique, mais ça dérape pas dans le vinaigre de framboises. On s'arrête juste avant. Comme dans les films quand la bagnole elle freine et s'arrête pile poil avant la falaise. Ou alors t'as les roues avant dans le vide et faut descendre avant que ça bascule. (fin en com )

NEW BEER - Mano Negra Virgin Oak 10% This limited one-off beer is the outcome of a project with the University @kuleuven on the effect of barrel aging on beer. Our Belgian Imperial Stout 'Mano Negra' has aged for one year on 4 Virgin Oak Garbellotto barrels. The University came and took samples every 6 weeks to see what impact wood has on beer. This edition is limited to 700 bottles of 75cl, only a dozen of kegs were filled. Rare start of publication, I know, but today I bring a beer that as soon as I saw it I had to buy it, its label reminded me of one of the games that I played the most hours of my life and it is none other than the #skyrim! The #manonegra, by @brouwerijalvinne, is an #imperialstout with an aroma and flavour of intense liqueur and soft toasted. I think, the flavors feel too intense. Ripe fruit aftertaste. Medium final bitterness. Inicio raro de publicación, lo sé, pero hoy traigo una cerveza que en cuanto la vi tuve que comprarla, su etiqueta me recordó a uno de los videojuegos que más horas he jugado en toda mi vida y no es otro que el Skyrim! La Mano Negra, de #brouwerijalvinne, es un Imperial Stout de aroma y sabor licoroso intenso y un suave tostado. Me parece que los sabores se sienten demasiado intensos. Regusto a fruta madura. [Laurelin 2017] Cuvée Sofie Schaarbeekse Kriek The reason behind the birth of Alvinne's Fellowship Of Exceptional Ales, the beer that caused us to rethink how to sell our very exclusive and limited batches. Description: The fifth Fellowship ale cannot exist without the fourth, a necessary duality like the two trees of Valinor; this one is made the same way as the 2016 version, but the Schaarbeekse cherries in this case are applied to Cuvée Sofie that has been aged for 'only' one year in wine barrels instead of two. Poured right next to the 2016 version, this one looks almost exactly the same, with an unstable array of large, white-reflecting bubbles that disappear quickly over a deep and misty, red beer, this one seemingly a tad deeper ruby-hued than the 2016 version, a very subtle difference only made visible in comparison with one another. Aroma has the same degree of complexity as its elderly counterpart, but with a slightly more crisp cherry juice (almost blood orange-like) and a slightly 'fuller' cherry jam effect, more actual wet wood than aromatic 'oak vanilla', a tad more 'dustiness', more outspoken red wine presence and somewhat more prominent solventy barrel effects (wood glue). Feels a bit tangier and brighter in the mouth as well, a cascade of juicy sour cherries with red berry effects, but backed by the same basic soft Cuvée Sofie maltiness as the 2016 version, equally softly carbonated. Tannic effects from the wood treatment merge with cherry skin wryness, while the cherry flesh acidity - even if the cherry part is exactly the same in this one as in the 2016 version - seems even more fiery and tangy. Ends very complex, long, woody, fruity and almost madera-like, with a soothing alcohol glow rounding off the flavor 'parcours' in the very end. The more youthful of both trees, this one too nevertheless exudes nobility, wisdom and depth - so by no means is this the lesser one of the two. Different but equal, both Laurelins are truly worthy Fellowship ales to enjoy with care and patience - this is sour ale at a world class level. I’ll be honest, I pulled out this Mano Negra Chili Stout from Brouwerij Alvinne thinking it was a vintage bottle, but it looks like I still needed to wait 2 more months for this to be the case... anyway, time is totally subjective, in whichever direction one might go.. The bourbon from the barrel whispered behind nice dark vinous fruits while the bitter truly woody tannins worked well as a decoy stealing the attention away while the slow burn from the dried chili’s made true the deed behind the word... I don’t know how this might sound, but it was a lovely beer, just a pity half of it gushed onto our stone tiled terrace floor before getting to the glass.
