In all my time here on this platform, this is probably the first time that (as I’m writing this) I’m nervous to make the decision I’m about to make... What this boils down to is my subconsciously engrained fear of change. I’ve grown immensely since my high school years of being completely debilitated by this fear, but it still exists and I’m terrified. I’ve been so thankful and so grateful for my time here as a photographer on Instagram. Sometimes, I’ll scroll all the way down to my first post just so I can monitor the changes I made over the course of these last couple of years. And now... now it’s time for another big change on my little sector of Instagram. Getting to the point of editing that I have (with the video component and the collages with moving swirls) was such an adventure. I learned so many new skills along the way and also met so many talented and inspirational creatives as a result. I’ve constantly reiterated in the past that at the end of the day, this journey of growth is for me and for my health and well-being— and in some ways, this has definitely been fulfilled! However... The demand and expectations people have for me to edit for them in a specific way has sucked me dry. This was never about standing out on the platform to “get clout”, or to gain a certain reputation from others. None of that! When I began this account, I didn’t tell any of my friends about it; that’s because this was started to help me grow in my craft and in my enjoyment of photography. Now that I’m done with grad school, I am finally starting to readjust and take things into my own again. But in order to bring @tiffgifphotog back to what it was intended for in the first place, I need to completely strip everything back. So with that being said: No more looped gif posts, no more collages, no more swirl elements around the subjects of my photos.
