Schloss Lichtenstein, Lichtenstein, Germany The Old Lichtenstein was destroyed after the Knights of Lichtenstein lost to the Reutlingen in 1377. The Reutlingen destroyed this castle. The rule of Württemberg resulted in a New Lichtenstein located 15minutes away from the old one. This castle was considered to have one of the best medieval defenses. It was a ducal seat and held power within its walls. Unfortuately in 1567, the ducal seat was lost and the castle fell into neglect. A couple of centuries later in 1802, this ruined castle was destroyed completely to make way for forest land. Wilhelm Graf von Württemberg accquired this property in 1837 probably since he was a fan of the novel ‘Lichtenstein.’ He decided to rebuild the castle. Architect Heideloff and the builder Count Wilhelm of Württemberg came up with detailed plans of a medieval castle on similar lines. The castle built in a neo-gothic style was inaugrated in 1842 in presence of the King! Didn’t you think Schloss Lichtenstein was in fact mediveal at first glance!? [ENG INFO BELOW] ​Совсем недалеко от дворца Нимфенбург, в шаговой доступности, буквально в 3 километрах, находится самый романтический замок Германии - Блютенбург. ​ Здесь была найдена древняя гробница, а на месте замка находилось укрепленное поселение индоевропейцев - аж за тысячу двести лет до нашей эры! Сам замок изначально был построен в XIII веке, далее перестраивался; он использовался в качестве охотничьего, причем с Нимфенбургом его связывала полоса прямой видимости - аллея (сейчас она заросла деревьями, ведутся работы по ее восстановлению). ​ Здесь, кстати, творил известный художник Василий Кандинский. Название замка произошло от слова "плюденберг" - что означает "цветочная гора", со временем название преобразовалось в Блютенбург. ​И с замком связана старая и очень печальная легенда. В XV веке наследный принц Альбрехт перестроил замок для своей возлюбленной, простолюдинки Агнес Бернауэр. Эта связь совершенно не устраивала его отца, герцога Эрнста, который в итоге, узнав о тайном браке, дал приказ опоить сына, а его супругу Агнес - арестовать. Далее ее быстренько судили как ведьму, приворожившую наследного принца; ее приговорили к испытанию водой - постановили бросить в Дунай связанной; если выплывет - значит, ведьма и подлежит сожжению на костре; не выплывет - значит, всё хорошо, ее душа попадет в рай. Агнес в итоге не выплыла... ​Наследный принц Альбрехт, понятное дело, был очень возмущен и расстроен, и даже сначала собирался воевать с отцом; но потом успокоился, помирился с папой - и остался жить в Блютенбурге в заточении. ​У легенды, правда, есть и счастливый вариант окончания: якобы палач был верным Альбрехту человеком; он специально связал руки Агнес гнилой верёвкой, и сказал ей задержать дыхание - и при казни сразу не всплывать на поверхность.
