“The Passion of Jesus is a sea of sorrows, but it is also an ocean of love. Ask the Lord to teach you to fish in this ocean. Dive into its depths. No matter how deep you go, you will never reach the bottom.” - St. Paul of the Cross
Crossing Ponte Sant’Angelo- Rome’s bridge of Angels, which tells the story of Christ’s passion by each angel carrying an item from His crucifixion. The bridge leads to Castel Sant’Angelo, which got its name in 590 AD from Pope Gregory I who saw the Archangel Michael appear on top of the mausoleum. Gregory saw the angel sheath a bloody sword, and took it as a sign that the plague, which had been ravaging Rome for years, was finally over. In remembrance of this event, Gregory topped the mausoleum with the statue of an angel, and began to call the structure Castel Sant’Angelo. - The Paideia Institute .

There still might be rooms without any furniture, but this house is BLESSED ✝️ (because we can use all the help we can get, and the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are no joke ).
Check out my stories to see part of the blessing! It was so beautiful.
And would you mind saying a prayer for my sister Irene, who’s using every natural method to get her labor with baby number 3 going today?

Today our priest told us to ask Mother Mary to mark the blood of Jesus across our hearts in discussing the OT readings for the day. He said to ask in prayer that she kiss us, knowing she kissed the feet of Jesus as He hung on the Cross whereby getting His precious blood on her lips. Wow. Can we let that settle in? Thank you for a Mother who wants to do nothing more but give us more of Him! Praise be to God!

Confession: Hospitality is hard for me right now. Yes, I have a house made for hosting. And yes, I have a love for cooking and welcoming people. But it’s still hard. I’m up every day at 4:30 and ready to drop by dinner. Toby is drunk with his newfound powers of mobility. And thanks to a surprise tax bill, our already tight budget is now tighter.
But I love people. I want to see them. And the reason we bought this house was to make it a home for others.
So, I’m rethinking what hospitality looks like for me in this season.
I know some of you need to do that same rethinking, because you keep asking me how—with a house that’s too small, a budget that’s too tight, or kids that are too little—you‘re supposed to make hospitality happen.
My answer? Maybe you can’t. You might be in a season (home renovations, new babies, serious illness) where it just isn’t feasible.
But those seasons are rare. More likely, like me, what you need to do is let go of your expectations. Not just the culture’s expectations. Your expectations.
Maybe hospitality for you right now, isn’t inviting families over. Maybe it’s inviting couples. Or one single friend.
Maybe it’s not even inviting friends. Maybe it’s reaching out to the stranger—the new woman at Church, the awkward guy at work, the neighbor who lost his wife.
Maybe it’s inviting neighbors over for drinks in the backyard.
Maybe it’s going potluck, and asking everyone to contribute.
Maybe it’s giving another exhausted mom a break and inviting her kids over…or planning a play date in the park…or asking a co-worker to grab sushi.
Maybe it’s any one of a million things that don’t look like what you think hospitality is, but still gets the job done.
Remember: Hospitality is not about impressing people; it’s about loving people. It’s about serving the people God has placed in your path and being the arms of Christ where you are today, in this season, right now.
Don’t let anyone’s expectations—yours or others—stop you from doing that. I know it’s hard. I am with you—so with you. But too many people are out in the cold waiting to be invited in. They need you. And you need them.

“The children must learn to see in their father the foster-father St. Joseph, and the Blessed Mother as the perfect model for their own mother. The lesson to be learned is both practical and theoretical, in that the children must learn how to obey and to love their parents in thought, word and action, just as Christ was obedient to Mary and Joseph. Helping mother in the kitchen and in the house work, and helping father in his odd jobs about the home thus take on a new significance by being performed in a Christ-like spirit." Most Holy Mary, Our Mother, in your great love for us you gave us the Holy Scapular of Mount Carmel, having heard the prayers of your chosen son Saint Simon Stock. Help us now to wear it faithfully and with devotion. May it be a sign to us of our desire to grow in holiness.

The good angels hold cheap all that knowledge of material and transitory things which the demons are so proud of possessing -- not that they are ignorant of these things, but because of the love of God, whereby they are sanctified, is very dear to them, and because, in comparison of that not merely immaterial but also unchangeable and ineffable beauty, with the holy love of which they are inflamed, they despise all things which are beneath it, and all that is not it, that they may with every good thing that is in them enjoy that good which is the source of their goodness ~St. Augustine Artwork by Sandra Lubreto Dettori #catholicwomen #cathoilcmotherhood #traditionalcatholic #traditionalcatholicism #traditionalcatholicfemininity #modesty #catholicism #romancatholic #marianmodesty #catholicmarriage #catholichusband #catholichusbandandwife #catholicwife #catholicfamily
