This temple was constructed in 1268 by Soma. The Channakeshava temple at Somanathapura is housed within an amazing high wall and the doorway to the complex with tall lathe-turned pillars. Chloritic schist or soapstone is used for this temple. One of the most humbling parts of my #IndiaBlogTrain trip was realizing just how much time goes into building and creating worthwhile things. This beautiful Chennakeshava Temple for example took over 103 years to finish, and that day, we saw countless carvings that took some workers an entire lifetime to perfect. I mean, if that’s not a humbling experience..... ‍♀️ . Some say it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill. 10,000! I think that’s a handy fact to remember anytime you beat yourself up for inadequacy ;) Here’s the truth: often times, it’s more about consistency and perseverance than it is about actual skill. I’ve only really been blogging for 3 years, a tiny amount of time compared to many big bloggers out there, but it has also been enough time to outlive many others who stopped and gave up. I honestly attribute most of my “wins” to just keeping at it. After all, remember this: skills you can always learn - determination and drive are harder to acquire .
