Cuando la realidad supera a la ficción. Un día después de la catástrofe de Chernóbil, que contaminó a más de 50 mil kilómetros cuadrados, los soviéticos lanzaron desde helicópteros más de 5 mil toneladas de boro, arena y plomo. Esto, para crear un sarcófago que contuviera las sustancias radioactivas que se estaban liberando y controlar el incendio. . . El problema de las descargas es que debían pasar por sobre el núcleo abierto del reactor, cuya insoportable radiación hacía imposible que los pilotos lo sobrevolaran. Por lo mismo, se necesitaron más de mil viajes, ya el contenido muchas veces no cayó donde debía. . . En el clip superior podemos ver la recreación que hizo HBO de la caída de un helicóptero mientras este se disponía a descargar material. Abajo observamos el clip real, con testigos mirando atónitos como el helicóptero choca con los cables de una pluma. El registro es de meses después, cuando la construcción del sarcófago comenzaba.
