I’ve been refraining from posting because of how controversial the finish was. Country House is officially your derby winner, with Code of Honor second! My official stance is this: regardless if you agree with the call or not, it is absolutely not okay to bash the horse. I’ve seen tons of comments on social media about how Country House is “ugly”, “terrible looking and built horse” or he “couldn’t win in a real way.” The horse did his job and ran his race even with the adversity. It sickens me to see people bash this horse when the reason we love the sport is because of the power and grace of these athletes. I am proud for Country House, I am proud for his connections. Most of all though I am beyond thankful a disaster was adverted yesterday, the situation could’ve been a nightmare but by the grace of god it was averted. Rant over, now onto the Preakness!
