Weil die Bäume so hoch sind, hatte ich mir noch nie Kastanienblüten aus der Nähe angesehen, jetzt ist mir aufgefallen, dass die beiden Flecken oberhalb der Staubfäden nicht bei allen Einzelblüten rot sind, sondern teilweise auch gelb. Bei @diegartenschule habe ich erstmals gelesen, dass diese Flecken „Saftmal“ heissen. Die Saftmale sehen für Insekten aus wie Nektartropfen und locken potentielle Bestäuber an. Bei der Kastanie sind die Saftmale erst gelb und verfärben sich dann zu rot.
