When I was younger I wanted to be an anesthesiologist. In my mind it meant the ultimate status in the middle class black communities that cultivated my being like Jack and Jill, Debutante and Magnet Schools. “Get good grades Taylar, win first place in every activity possible Taylar, go to college Taylar…” and maybe become a doctor and live happily after, too. When I was growing up I had this notion that being a doctor was equivalent to success. Of course, not to knock anyone who’s killing it in medicine, but what I’ve learned over the years is that success looks different for everyone and success is a standard that only YOU can define for yourself. ▫️ What I’ve also learned is that defining this success and actually choosing to make it your reality means you have to be CONFIDENT enough to own it. Defying the naysayers, haters and non-believers when it’s not easy. ▫️ This weekend I had the honor and pleasure of being a champion of this conversation with @thediamondcampaign! I was able to share my story about how I was CONFIDENT enough to OWN my journey to success – like breaking the news that I’d be leaving my corporate job 11 months into relocating to another city, changing a college major three semesters into it, and transitioning into full time entrepreneurship. ▫️ What’s more? I got to share this message with women who are no longer confined to what it means to be a “modern day woman” owning their multi-hyphenate excellence like – chemical engineer-esthetician-beautyadvocate and  tech pioneer-financialadvisor-lifecoach. It truly filled me with indescribable gratitude to be apart of this generation of women who are redefining success. ▫️ I hope we continue to set new standards about what it means to CONFIDENTLY live in your dreams, your passions and the legacies that we want to leave.
