Some of the weird & wild things we do at work...Yesterday’s baby came out with a veil! I get a lot of questions about when “water breaks” in labor. Sometimes it’s before labor starts or early on, sometimes during transition or pushing, sometimes I can help it release if the situation or request calls for it, and sometimes not until baby is all the way born. This little one’s head was born still in the amniotic sac. This piece floated off as she emerged from the #waterbirth but other times I’ve/the parents have just gently removed it to welcome babies to room oxygen. Two beautiful redeeming births this week were the best welcome back to work after vacation. I’m still a little between worlds, but the veil is lifting, gently, when it needs to.

What if everything goes ok?
What if they don’t get mad?
What if I do share how I feel?
What if my next pregnancy goes ok?
What if I can handle this?
What if I’m capable of great things?
What if I’m worthy of love and respect?
What if I’m allowed to say no?
What if my body is loveable like this?
What if my baby does love me?
What if I am doing a good job as a mom?
What if my boss is understanding?
What if... .
.
This is something I often talk about as a therapist. Try asking yourself “what if” and looking at the positive side as well and see if there could be any truth there. We talk about this in more detail in our online workshop where we teach you about “what if thought tornados” and how to get out of them when you are feeling stuck! For more info on this check out our link in the bio!
Have you tried doing this when the “what if” thoughts take over?

After conflict comes up with our kids (or anyone really) it can be hard to know what to say to make them feel better and make us feel better. Here’s some examples of helping mend the relationship after conflict in a way that doesn’t necessarily mean we agree with the other person, but is supportive and will help you grow together through conflict instead of apart.
