Mental illness stigma is deadly. It's baffling that with all the information and spreading awareness there are still so many people who don't take it seriously, some don't even believe in mental Illness at all!
it's easy to be ignorant when you haven't experienced mental issues yourself. it requires kindness, empathy and wisdom to be able to relate and understand something that doesn't affect your directly. sadly, not everyone has these characteristics.
Remember it is never about you or your illness when someone is enforcing the stigma. it's about their incapability to understand.

Constant stress and fear over long periods of time during childhood is damaging. Did you know that our brain actually develops differently if we had an unstable childhood? it's a measurable change and it can have drastic effect on our mental and physical well-being. Someone gone through reoccurring trauma in childhood is more likely to suffer from chronic pain and many other physical problems as an adult. Mental health issues are of course much more likely to occur too. Some of the damage can be reversed in therapy and we can find ways to function, so all is not lost.

Childhood trauma can be caused by so many things. We are so sensitive during our formative years it's no wonder the impact from any of the above can be damaging. ALSO it's not always bad/self centered/sick parents that cause the trauma. Sometimes living in poverty can cause trauma, sometimes it's other children bullying you relentlessly. Whatever the reason behind your trauma is, it's ABSOLUTELY VALID even if it seems weird from adult perspective. Adults and children are so very different, we should never judge our(or other's) childhood trauma and reaction to what happened.

Most of our issues stem from our childhood. If you didn't feel safe as a kid, it's no wonder you experience anxiety as an adult. What we need to do is acknowledge and accept the fact that our childhood wasn't perfect, and some childhoods were devastating. Once we accept that, we can heal our inner child. speak kindly to your inner kid, encourage them, love them, soothe them. Trauma has a huge impact on our brains, especially when it happens in childhood. It literally makes our brains develope differently, and it's no surprise our minds and personalities adjust accordingly. Some damage can't be fixed, but all is not lost! When supporting someone with mental or physical illness, or someone going through grief, people often get anxious to find the right words and fixing what's causing the pain. This however is not necessary, most of the time it is enough to just be there and listen. Be there through the discomfort and anxiety. you are not required to fix someone, you probably don't even have the means to do so, and that's okay.
