Nobody messes with my mom. She was always right and would bite your head off if you didn’t do it her way. Imagine when at 10 years old, I decided to paint our kitchen bright turquoise. Her LV yang exploded when she came home and saw I had painted the fridge, the windows and the door as well as the walls! Yep, true story. It’s funny now, but boy, it was quite a sight back then. My mom was livid! She was a single mother and worked 12 hour days every day of the week. She was constantly stressed trying to make ends meet. I got yelled at a lot (often with legitimate reason!), and her LV got challenged over and over. So naturally, she relaxed by smoking, and drinking wine and coffee: perfect for her liver, right? All her 91 years on this planet, she was a force to be reckon with. And like my mom I do stress about the little things like technology not working, or the big things, like my husband’s health. Although, I like my glass of wine and my blue cheese (It’s in my French DNA, what can I say!), I make sure I balance it out with Liver foods, such as leafy greens, asparagus, lemon and apple cider vinegar, and every spring I gently cleanse my body for a few days. Here are the best foods according to each TCM Liver patterns. Bon Appetit! . . . #AcupunctureRocks #acupuncture #acupunctureworks #acupuncturestudent #chinesemedicine #tcm #naturopathicmedicine #naturopath #traditionalchinesemedicine #yinyang #naturopathicdoctor #foodismedicine #nutrition #livercleanse

There is definitely more to this unassuming fruit than meets the eye. While most commonly used as a base for salad dressings or to add flavor in cooking and baking, lemons actually have a lot more to offer than their current ‘bit part’ roles allow for. Rich in potassium, folate, Vitamin B6 and thiamin, lemons also contain bankable amounts of magnesium, calcium, phosphorous and vitamins A and E. Their pièce de résistance however, lies in their astonishingly high levels of Vitamin C. One lemon contains a whopping 187% of the recommended daily allowance. Vitamin C is one of the quickest and easiest ways to boost your immune system. It helps neutralize free radicals associated with aging and disease and it’s also excellent for the skin. The challenge though, comes in figuring out how to ingest more of them, and starting in the morning is the perfect solution. Warm water and lemon is a natural energizer. It hydrates and oxygenates the body, leaving it feeling refreshed and revitalized for quite some time. As opposed to coffee, whose effects are short lived. Perhaps the biggest benefit of drinking warm water and lemon is that it helps to maintain your body in an alkaline state. Interestingly, while lemon juice itself is acidic, it’s actually one of the most alkaline foods available. #whenlifegivesyoulemons #lemon #lemonwater #mornings #morningrituals #healthyfood #wellness #stopchronicdisease #alkaline #betterhealth #hydrate #acupuncture #functionalmedicine #goodhabits #delraybeach #chinesemedicine
