Raise your hand if this comic is also you. But don’t keep your hand up for too long because you’ll need a week to recover from it. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I relate to everything @bethdrawsthings makes, but this brings it to a whole new level.⁣ ⁣ [Image Description: A Beth Evans comic. A white background. In the top half there is a white cartoon creature with black outline smiling and saying “Yes! I went out and socialized!” And the bottom has the same creature in bed looking uncomfortable saying “Yes! I will need a full year to recover! So drained!”]

Every morning from Monday to Friday I kiss my husband goodbye as he goes off to work his 9 to 5 job. And every morning I ache a little to watch him go, knowing I used to walk out the door alongside him. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Sometimes it makes me feel invaluable as an adult. But then I think about those feelings and sit with them for a minute.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ And I remember that the only reason I feel that way is because the society I was raised in has shaped me to feel that way. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ But it’s not the truth. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Working on taking care of myself and trying to get to a place where I can more comfortably balance all aspects of my life with chronic illness is also a job. A really hard one. And it’s not less important than the job I went to every day in an office. It’s just different. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ One doesn’t hold more value than the other. ⁣⁣⁣ One doesn’t make ME more valuable a person than the other. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ It’s okay to take it easy. To work on you. To not stay at your job until it works you to death. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ You are valuable. ⁣⁣⁣ Work has nothing to do with that. ⁣⁣ ⁣ ⁣⁣ [Image Description: A white background with black font that reads: You don’t need to work a full time job to have value. There is a pink pencil stroke behind the words: don’t, work, and value.]

: This idea that anyone can achieve anything if they put their mind to it is a inspiring idea in theory, but when it comes to the chronically ill, the saying doesn’t necessarily apply. We all want and hope to achieve so much in our lifetime but when you are chronically ill sometimes those big dreams don’t always come true. This is not meant to be a downer, but rather we are here to tell you that what you are able to accomplish is ENOUGH. To achieve success and happiness you don’t need to be a millionaire, a ceo, a business owner or have multiple houses. To us, success means that at the end of the day you can feel proud of yourself and that you ultimately find happiness. Just remember that you do enough and you are enough - never let anyone tell you otherwise. Comment below if you relate. Follow @how.u.feeling for more!

I find when I am feeling really down, unable to sort my feelings or too emotionally spent to put thoughts into comprehensible words, this is the best sort of comfort I can feel. Someone who understands that I am not trying to push them away, who is not offended by my silence and still sits by my side. It is not an easy thing to do, but I am grateful that I have people in my life full of empathy and kindness to do so. #justbethere #comfortinbeing #supportsystem #chronicillnesslife Repost @heybobguy (@get_repost) ・・・ Sometimes the best help you can give a friend is simply being there for them . . #comic #webcomic #webcomics #comics #cartoons #cartoon #jokes #comicstrip #dailycomic #cute #pudge #friends #friendship

This idea came about after a DM convo with the lovely @a.tired.girls.diary Few weeks ago I mentioned how dealing with the emotional rollercoaster of life with chronic illness combined with juggling my health situation, general life stuff and doing Spoonie Village, it left me feeling like I was the piece of slime a kid was stretching apart and then squishing back together, repeatedly so this was created as a reminder! ⁣ ⁣ My goals and aims this year are to make progress with balancing things a bit. Yes it means things might take a lot longer but my health must come first and so incase you missed it earlier check the grid to see the post about why we decided to set up a separate account for shop news. Head over to @spoonievillage_shop to give us a new follow! ⁣ ⁣ Sometimes stretching ourselves too thin with everything creeps up on us. We say yes to things we maybe should say no to, and before we know it overwhelm can kick us and we feel like failures, let downs or unreliable humans. This post is here to tell you you’re none of the above! You are a person handling an awful lot and doing your best to do so and you deserve to show yourself kindness. No one on the planet can do it all or be everything to everyone and we should stop thinking we can be. ⁣ ⁣ Take a breath and step back if you need. One thing that can help us in advance is asking ourselves or keeping at the back of your mind before saying yes “is this going to help or hinder my health?” It’s okay to say no and it’s okay to readjust commitments with love and explain why. Everyone has been there at some point and when living with illness we just end up there a lot more than most. Our health is unpredictable not us. So starting this week stop stretching yourself too thin and be kind to your needs too.

: With summer fast approaching it’s that time of the year when you start to pack up your winter gear and substitute it with your beach attire. While summer is my favorite season, it also invokes a-lot of body image issues. I personally think that all bodies are beautiful but if you have a body image issue, me saying this doesn’t help you. You have convinced yourself that beauty is only real if you are skinny. Not only is this not true but most of your ideas about how your life would be better if you were skinny are false. Here are a few misconceptions: 1. I’m going to be happier if I’m skinny. 2. I will be healthier if I’m skinny 3. People will love me more if I’m skinny. All three of these ideas have no reality to them. Happiness doesn’t come from your appearance but rather it comes from more intangible things. Health doesn’t equate to being skinny. There are so many people who put themselves through strenuous diet programs to get their ultimate summer bodies, but it typically involves starving themselves without eating a proper diet. Just because you look “good” on the outside doesn’t mean you look or feel good on the inside. And lastly, if you surround yourself with people who would only love you based on your looks then you have to start picking better friends and partners. Your body doesn’t define you as a person- how you treat others and your personality are typically the reasons why people love you. In order to start reshaping your image of yourself let’s start with a little exercise. It may be useful to create a list of people you admire that do not have “perfect” bodies. Does their appearance affect how you feel about them? Do they have happy and loving relationships? In the end, we want all of you to feel happy and comfortable with your own body. We all have different standards and visions for ourself but don’t let society try to dictate those for you. We love all of you for everything that you are ❤️. Follow @how.u.feeling for more!
