This was the second film in 32 years to feature an all Asian cast besides, Flower Drum Song, until the latest entry, 26 years later, which was Crazy Rich Asians.

This is a touching movie about the relationship of 4 mothers & their daughters. The overall focus is that on a woman's life. It is not only about believing in oneself or standing up for oneself as a woman, however, also about believing in our mothers and sometimes the implicit love that a daughter shares with her. Two women from two different generations may be different in many ways however, the utmost realization that they are just the same afterall is something the movie has beautifully captured. The beautiful story and strong performances left me in tears and I was all heartbroken! While Crazy Rich Asians was creating all the buzz, I came across this gem, and had a delightful time!

The Pianist (2002)
Director: Roman Polanski
Starring: Adrien Brody
—————————————————
The Pianist is a memoir by the Polish Jewish pianist and composer Wladyslaw Szpilman, a Holocaust survivor, as Warsaw begins to crumble at the start of World War II. It is a sad and heart wrenching tale with a unique point of view of Szpilman and his family escaping the Warsaw ghettos amidst the chaos. Adrien Brody delivers the performance of a lifetime that rightfully earned him the Oscar for Best Actor in 2003. Finally, the famous piano scene between a starved and unrecognizable Szpilman, and Nazi officer Hosenfeld is one of the most powerful scenes in cinema history (swipe to see). Simply a true masterpiece from Roman Polanski.
